Bronze for Shaw! Midale athlete triumphs in Paris

Midale’s Keely Shaw took to the track in two events in the first two days of competition at the Paralympics, and is coming home with a medal. Shaw captured the bronze medal in the C-4 3000m pursuit this morning, beating Samantha Bosco of the United States to capture the medal. Shaw finished the race with a time of 3:46.942. Her average speed for the race was 47.589 km/h. 

Saskatchewan bucks national trend with lower inflation

The latest inflation numbers were released by Statistics Canada this week, and here in Saskatchewan, the inflation rate continues to be below the national average. The rate of inflation in July was 2.5 percent nationally, and 1.55 percent here in Saskatchewan. While this is up slightly from June, when it was 1.4 percent, it is still the lowest in the nation, ahead of Manitoba at 1.8 percent.

Bear sighting common through much of Saskatchewan

It is the time of year when black bears have started to look for extra food ahead of hibernation. With fall just around the corner, bears are in a period called hypophagia, where they can eat upwards of 20,000 calories of food a day. As they look for extra nourishment, they are more visible, sometimes venturing from their more familiar locales in search of food.  

$57 million investment: Major highway upgrades near completion

The initial plans for Highways 39 and 6 from the U.S. border to Regina were for the entire length of the highway to be twinned. This plan would change over the years, with the decision ultimately made for passing lanes to be installed along some stretches of the highway, and other parts being twinned. The first passing lanes were put in between Milestone and Regina in 2018, with further passing lanes built in 2020 and 2021. Now, the final phase of the project, twinning near Corinne and Rowatt, is about to wrap up.
