Saskatchewan RCMP concerned as fatal collisions surge exponentially

"Yes, the number of fatal collisions increased exponentially in recent weeks, and yes, we are concerned."

Those words are from the officer in charge of the Saskatchewan RCMP Traffic Services, Superintendent Grant St. Germaine, as the RCMP reported 22 fatal collisions in their jurisdiction from September 1st to October 25th. This averaged out to a fatal collision every 2.5 days. In the time period from January 1st to August 31st - eight months - there were 36 fatal collisions.

SECPSD enrollment increase: A mixed blessing

The number of students enrolled in classes in the South East Cornerstone Public School Division is up for the current school year, compared to last year. The numbers were released during the SECPSD board meeting on October 11th.

The enrolment went up by 128 students, bringing the total number to 8,305.

While the Director of Education, Keith Keating, is pleased to see the enrolment going up, it does bring some challenges.
