There were thousands of smiles shared and thousands of dollars raised during the latest Smile Cookie Week. Linda and Jeff Doerksen own and operate the franchises in Winkler, Morden and Carman.
Morden and Winkler partnered with Boundary Trails Health Centre Foundation for the second time, with Executive Director Shannon Samatte-Folkett setting a goal of 25,000 cookies and $50,000.

Aces President Lansard speaks on team being voted out of SEMHL
After being asked to leave a portion of an SEMHL league meeting, President of the Ste. Anne Aces, Kevin Lansard, didn't think much of it, he went and grabbed a bite to eat and waited, but when he was called back in, he would be informed his team would no longer be welcomed in the league.
The South Eastern Manitoba Hockey League is now made up of Morden, Notre Dame, Portage la Prairie, Winkler, Warren, Carman, Ile des Chenes, Springfield and Red River.

Rev. Leslie Poulin, 61, of Morris passed away Friday, May 2nd at Morris General Hospital.
She is survived by 3 daughters, 2 sisters, Father Dalton Poulin and their families. She was predeceased by her mother Joan Poulin.
The funeral service for Rev. Leslie Poulin will be held Friday, May 9th at 1pm at Morris Multiplex with burial at a later date in her hometown in Ontario.

First Ecole West Park School fundraising student art show big success
The first Ecole West Park School fundraising Student Art Show is being hailed a big success. Organized by the Parent Advisory Council, it took place Thursday night at Altona's Community Exchange and featured live music, art auctions and raffles. Over $2,500 was raised during the evening.
Chair Sandy Hutchison says the vision was to have students be directly involved in as many ways as possible.
Altona testing emergency warning siren today at 1p.m.
The Town of Altona will be testing its emergency outdoor warning siren today.
It will be activated at 1 p.m. and run for four minutes in order to ensure the equipment is working properly.
At any other time, if you hear the siren for longer than 30 seconds, seek shelter immediately and tune your radios to CFAM 950 for more information.
Again, Altona's emergency outdoor warning siren will be tested for four minutes at 1 p.m. today.
Drew Peters announces commitment to Niagara University
Drew Peters, who hails from Long Plains First Nation and grew up in Winkler, announced that he will be playing hockey and attending Niagara University next season.
