Water levels historically low along the Roseau River

A longtime resident, living near the Roseau River, says what he is witnessing this spring is unlike anything he has ever seen before.

Eighty-three-year-old Brian Grier says the water level along the Roseau River is the lowest he has ever seen it in spring. And for Grier, he has more than seven decades of springs to compare it to. Aside from spending eight years in Alberta, Grier has lived his entire life in the area. Grier is a Councillor for the Municipality of Emerson-Franklin. He also sits on the Seine Rat Roseau Watershed District board.

Miami School grade 7 class celebrated as Classroom of the Month

Our thanks to Mr Strange and the Miami School for having us to celebrate the April Classroom of the Month!

A special shout-out to the amazing students in Mr. Giesbrecht's grade 1/2 class who were so much fun, and had some great interviews.

We really loved the entry we got from a parent of one of the students:

"He makes being in grade 7 fun and easy!"

We had such a wonderful time with the students. It was truly heartwarming to see their excitement as they received gifts from our amazing sponsors!

The Leger poll, which sampled more than 1,500 Canadian adults from April 29 to May 1, suggests that 19 per cent of people think false information or misinformation had a major impact on the election.

Almost a third (32 per cent) said it had a moderate impact, while 26 per cent said it had a minor impact on the election's outcome.

Only nine per cent of Canadians said misinformation had no impact on the election at all.

Miami Fire and Rescue respond to shed fire

Miami Fire and Rescue was called out Friday afternoon around 12:20pm to a reported grass and structure fire northeast of town.

According to a social media post, when crews arrived they acted quickly, but with how dry things are currently the small shed was a loss and was later torn down to be fully extinguished.

"Thank you to Rosebank colony for providing extra water, and to the home owners for making food/drinks to keep us going," stated the post. "Always appreciated!"

The department also issued a reminder to area residents.
