Don Doerksen is 'Looking Back' with latest album on Made in Manitoba
It's time for another Made in Manitoba, and it's all about southern gospel music on this weekend's program ahead of Don Doerksen's album release party May 31st.
Calling the Niverville area home, he grew up on the farm he currently owns and operates with his family. Don and his wife Valerie have four children, and are actively involved in the community and their church. He has been a worship leader for about 30 years, and his love of singing has come through in a variety of ways including quartets, choirs and Bible college ensembles.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the club has signed quarterback Zach Collaros to a one-year contract extension through the 2026 Canadian Football League season.
Collaros is entering his sixth season with the Blue Bombers and has firmly established himself as one of the greatest pivots in franchise history.

Crop would be eligible for biofuel tax credit under recent budget proposals in Congress
U.S. President Donald Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” could contain some beautiful news for Canada’s canola growers.
The U.S. House of Representatives’ ways and means committee has released its draft proposals for the U.S. budget reconciliation bill.
The proposals include provisions to amend the controversial 45Z clean fuel production tax credit so that canola oil-based biodiesel and renewable diesel would be eligible for the credit.
Producer groups come together to help fund ag research facilities at U of S
Construction is underway at the University of Saskatchewan that will see critical facility improvements within the College of Agriculture and Bioresources.
Two new facilities are being built - the Harrington Plant Growth Facility and the Soil Science Field Facility - while a portion of the Crop Science Field Lab is being renovated to provide additional workspace for the Crop Development Centre.
Measles exposure noted at Prairie Dale School
A new measles exposure site has been named in the area.
In an update sent Friday afternoon, Manitoba Public Health listed Prairie Dale School in Schanzenfeld. According to officials, the exposure happened May 12th from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the school.
Public health is asking individuals who think they may have been exposed, but have not been directly, notified to contact Health Links-Info Santé at 204-788-8200 in Winnipeg or 1-888-315-9257 toll-free in Manitoba.
Two-vehicle collision at 15th Street and Pembina
Emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of 15th Street and Pembina Avenue on Thursday evening around 6:45 pm.
According to police, a northbound vehicle attempted to make a left turn into a business at the intersection, crossing into the path of a southbound vehicle. The second vehicle was unable to stop in time, resulting in a collision.
Smoke expected to return Friday, Special Air Quality Statement issued
Forest fire smoke is expected to return to the region today, so Environment Canada has issued a Special Air Quality Statement for the Red River Valley and Southeastern Manitoba. Included are places like Morden, Carman, Winkler, Altona, Emerson, Winnipeg, Dominion City, Steinbach and Vita.
"Finally!" Two flood-damaged sites getting repaired in the Municipality of Rhineland
Two more flood-damaged sites are getting fixed in the Municipality of Rhineland.
"Finally!" exclaimed Reeve Don Wiebe. "On Road 7 (West) and Road 9. I've talked about this project a number of times but now, I can say that we are going forward."
At its most recent regular meeting, Council approved the project tender to Tri-Core Projects Ltd.
"The project on Road 7 is just a simple repair. But on Road 9, it's a new three-span bridge. This crosses the South Buffalo (Drain)," explained Wiebe.
Plum Coulee Community Foundation closes out 'awesome' 2024
"It's been an awesome year to contribute to something like this," said Levi Taylor, President of the Plum Coulee Community Foundation at the organization's annual general meeting this week.
The occasion kicked off with a soup and pie fund raiser, one of two the Foundation hosts every year, which are always a success, noted Taylor, to the point where the soup pots sometimes run dry!
