An author from Portage la Prairie is releasing her latest novel, and while set during WWII, it still connects with issues society faces today.

Terrie Todd is an award-winner author. Rose Among Thornes is her fifth published novel, the sixth published book under her name. 

"Like my other novels, Rose Among Thornes is set during WWII. It's about a young Japanese-Canadian girl named Rose," says Todd. 

A retired teacher from Grunthal is releasing her first children's book about her own testimony surrounding bullying.

Susanne Funk is from Grunthal, Manitoba, but she hasn't always lived here. Funk grew up in Germany and moved to Canada when she was 15 years old. 

This Friday the 13th one of the bright lights in Winnipeg’s Arts scene will re-open its doors for the first time in a long while.

The Cinematheque Theatre on the corner of Bannatyne and Arthur Street in the Exchange District will open its doors to the public and resume its showing of first-rate independent films.

The band known as Bread We Break is sharing four new refreshing singles with their young adult audience. 

Alexander Grant is the frontman for the band, that couples as a worship event also known as Bread We Break.

"Bread We Break has been around for 10 years and was birthed by a young adult in the city named Sarah Brown, but she was Sarah Froese at the time. The name comes from 1 Corinthians 10:16-17," he says.

It's been three years since Grant joined the group, hoping to provide fresh new worship songs and experience. 

After a lot of time off, the artist known as Messanjah will be performing once again, and this time with his family.

Kevin Manness is a Christian hip-hop artist from Winnipeg. When he's on stage rapping, he goes by the name Messanjah. 

"My friend used to call me Mess growing up, as a nickname, and I wanted people to know that what I'm doing, I'm doing for God. I used to be a mess before Him. It's sort of mess and Jehovah, so it's me and Him," says Manness.

Manness has been on the music scene for roughly 20 years and has previously opened up for P.O.D. 

A Winnipeg woman is releasing her first published book, Unlocking Your Destiny and Finding Purpose, while sharing her heart behind it. 

"I wrote it during the pandemic, a little bit before and trekked through in this time of lockdown, to have it published as such a time as this," says Maria Bobiles. 

There are eight chapters inside Unlocking Your Destiny and Finding Purpose.

Polycoro’s latest production is one that brings all the feels.

Manitoba Christian artist and worship pastor Jake Fretz is feeling humbled by his recent nomination in the category of Spiritual Artist of the Year. 

"On Tuesday, when the announcement came out for the Western Canadian Music Awards (WCMA), what surprised me was, that morning I had woken up, and after spending time in devotions, God really impressed on me that I was supposed to be focusing on making these songs accessible to smaller churches," says Fretz.

While one of his music videos may be igniting over a million viewers, Jordan St. Cyr is quietly celebrating with his family.

Arriving just over a week ago, Jordan St. Cyr is back home in Niverville, Manitoba, while on a break from touring with Jeremy Camp. The musician may be isolating in Manitoba, but fans across the world are connecting with him online with his song, 'Fires.'

"I never knew what I had when I finished this song," St. Cyr says. "God and His perfect timing put all the pieces together and then it really is out of your control."
