Fire destroys home in Grunthal
Fire destroyed a home in the Cottonwood Trailer Court Wednesday evening.
Hanover Fire Chief Paul Wiebe says they were dispatched at around 7:20 pm. He notes crews arrived to find a fully involved fire, with flames already shooting through the roof.
Wiebe says there was nobody home at the time, however, crews did not immediately know that and were quickly making attempts to extinguish the blaze in order to prepare for a search. He notes eventually the homeowner arrived and was able to confirm that there was nobody inside.
Seeding Progress in Manitoba: A Promising Start to the Season
Manitoba Agriculture reports significant progress in seeding activities across the province, with favorable weather conditions contributing to an accelerated pace. Sonya Wilson, Oilseed Specialist with Manitoba Agriculture, provided an update on the current state of seeding.

Louise Sackaruk (nee Zaluski) age 84 years of Emerson, formerly of Winnipeg and Gimli, Manitoba, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at the Boundary Trails Health Centre.
She is survived by her husband William Sackaruk, her son Brent Matenchuk, son-in-law Randy Smith, and one grandson. She was predeceased by her daughter Marina Smith.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 9th at 2pm at Brookside Cemetery, Winnipeg.

The funeral service for Leonard Len Paul Peters will be held Saturday, May 3rd at 11am at McIvor Avenue Mennonite Church, 200 McIvor Avenue, with burial at Glen Eden Cemetery.
Viewing will be at the church one hour prior to the service.
