SaskTel partnering with international ag companies to deliver better services for prairie farmers
SaskTel is developing new assets to help tech companies better connect with farmers by providing them with more background infrastructure. The project's full name is The Smart Agriculture Data Hub, and it will provide tech companies with a digital toolkit to help them reach more farmers.
Heather Clair, the marketing manager for Smart Ag, says the program is all about partnering with all the right companies to deliver what Saskatchewan farmers need.
Charges stayed against Calgary man accused of smuggling migrants across border
A Calgary man accused of human smuggling after allegations that he picked up foreign nationals who crossed into Manitoba from the United States has had his charges stayed.
Manitoba Courts confirmed charges under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act were stayed in February for Saleh Youssouf.
Information on why the charges have been stayed was not available.
Youssouf was accused of driving a van last January that held seven men from the Republic of Chad.
Federal Court of Appeal dismisses challenge of federal firearms ban
The Federal Court of Appeal has dismissed a challenge of a government ban on firearms that Ottawa considers fit only for the battlefield, not hunting or sport shooting.
The Liberals outlawed some 1,500 firearm models and variants in May 2020, meaning they could no longer be legally used, sold or imported.
The move was generally applauded by gun control advocates as a first step toward removing firearms used in mass shootings from circulation.

New training program aims to strengthen healthcare in the Southeast
With a growing population and rising demand for healthcare services, Steinbach Economic Development (SED) is taking steps to strengthen its local workforce.
In partnership with Assiniboine Community College, the Province of Manitoba, and HavenGroup, SED has announced the launch of a new Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) training program that’s set to begin in September 2025.
New crosswalk approved at McKenzie and Parkland for Parkhill School
The City of Steinbach has approved a new crosswalk to be built in the Hanover School Division (HSD).
Joe Thiessen, the division's superintendent, says his team made the request for a crosswalk at McKenzie Avenue and Parkland Drive at the end of February, in preparation for the opening of Parkhill School.
"We thank the City of Steinbach for approving a new pedestrian crossing to serve Parkhill School," Thiessen says. "As a Division, we value this collaborative effort to support the well-being of our students."

The two-hour French-language debate will be moderated by Radio-Canada's Patrice Roy and will focus on five themes: the cost of living, energy and climate, the trade war, identity and sovereignty, and immigration and foreign affairs.
