Mavericks snap Miller Express's winning streak

The Medicine Hat Mavericks picked up a 17-6 win Wednesday night at Ross Wells Park to end the Moose Jaw Miller Express’s three-game winning streak. 

After a scoreless first inning, Medicine Hat scored two runs in the top of the second. Moose Jaw replied with two runs in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game. Tanner DeGrazia doubled to bring home Eduardo Saenz, and Robert Estrada scored on an error by the centre-fielder.

I was so happy yesterday. I picked up a few things at the grocery store and at the check-out, I spotted OH HENRY candy bars on sale for $1.00. You know I bought two.

It made for a fun Facebook post and a number of friends reacted.

A friend my age asked, "Remember when they cost a dime?"

Yes, I do. It was back in the 70s. Chocolate bars and small bags of potato chips were 10 cents. You could get a 10 ounce bottle of soda for 15 cents.

UPDATE: Alert cancelled, dangerous person has been arrested

The RCMP arrested Elijah Albert at a rural location near Le stock, Sask. The investigation continues.

Saskatchewanians are being made aware of a dangerous person with a firearm last seen in the Muskowekwan First Nation area. The suspect is Elijah Albert, a 28-year-old male who was last seen wearing a blue sweater, blue jeans and a dark backpack.

AgraCity restarts packaging and product fulfillment operations

 AgraCity - a generic crop input supplier - sending out an important notice yesterday to its clients thanking them for their patience while they work through their operational restructuring after experiencing cash flow problems.

AgraCity owes product to a number of farmers and is attempting to reimburse growers for crop inputs they bought but did not receive.

The company announced they have restarted their packaging and product fulfillment operations and will be making products available to customers soon.

 

 

Your Thursday morning commute: here's what to look out for

There are a few things to keep an eye out for during your commute as a new round of closures and constructions kicks off this morning.

Starting at 6 a.m. today, workers will be on site conducting road repairs on:

  • 200 block of Iroquois St. E,
  • 900 block of Francis St.,
  • Intersection of Hochelaga St. E and 1st Ave NE.

Moose Jaw's Little League All Stars are practicing and raising funds this week in anticipation of their trip to the Canadian Championships in Victoria next week.

The local boys are coming off a three-game sweep of North Regina in the provincial championship.

The Canadian Little League Championship begins Tuesday. In the meantime, the All Stars have a fundraiser tomorrow night - a Ribs and Caesar dinner at the Crushed Can Sports Bar and Rec Room.

New options have been announced for livestock producers in Manitoba dealing with extremely dry conditions

 Agriculture Minister Ron Kostyshyn says Manitoba Agricultural Services Corporation will provide support measures through its AgriInsurance program, improving cash flow for livestock producers needing to secure additional feed.

MASC will be applying a quality adjustment factor to reduce yield appraisals by 40 per cent for drought-stricken cereal crops that are converted to livestock feed.
