Man charged after altercation with police in Richmound
A 61-year-old man is facing a list of charges, including assaulting a peace officer, following an incident in Richmound last Friday.
This Friday, the Saskatchewan RCMP announced that Ricky Manz of Richmound has been charged with one count of assault, two counts of assaulting a police officer, one count of resisting arrest, one count of mischief, one count of uttering threats, and one count of obstructing or interfering with an employee or agency of a municipality.

Reprieve from smoke this weekend, but more could be on its way: ECCC
After multiple days of persistent poor air quality, we are in for a temporary reprieve. According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) conditions are significantly improved heading into the weekend.
“The air is a lot cleaner, the air quality is a lot better,” said ECCC meteorologist, Crawford Luke, noting that the change is well-timed as today and tomorrow are expected to be warm and dry, ideal for outdoor activities.

Significant rainfall fuels both optimism and challenges: Crop report for July 15 - 21
Many Saskatchewan producers are regarding the recent and widespread rainfall as a positive sign for things to come, despite the variable impact it has had on actual crop and pasture conditions.
It was noted that, in some areas, the rain came just in time to carry crops forward through flowering and grain fill, while in others the rain came too late to make much of a difference to crops or pastures.
Mavericks sweep two-game series over Miller Express
The Medicine Hat Mavericks scored a total of 33 runs as they swept a two-game series over the Moose Jaw Miller Express this week.
Last night, a six-run sixth inning led the Mavericks to a 16-10 win.
Medicine Hat opened with a pair of runs in the top of the first. Moose Jaw then tied the game in the bottom of the second. Eduardo Saenz scored off a Tanner DeGrazia single, and Robert Estrada crossed home plate on a passed ball.

Old grounds, new colours: Fajardo back in Saskatchewan with Elks
Cody Fajardo will be wearing a different shade of green tonight as he makes his first start as an opponent since leaving the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
The Roughriders host the Edmonton Elks, who have made a quarterback change, electing to replace Tre Ford with the former Roughriders quarterback.
In his three seasons in Saskatchewan, Fajardo led the green and white to the Western Final on two occasions. Following the 2022 season, the Roughriders went in a different direction**,** signing Trevor Harris.
