Riverhurst invites you to a night of art and music

On July 4, the Village of Riverhurst will come alive with an art show and sale featuring local and regional artists, followed by an evening of music under the prairie sky performed by well-known Saskatchewan musician Jeffery Straker.

The Riverhurst Art Show is free to everyone. It opens at 5 p.m. in the Community Hall and will feature works in pottery, sculpture, jewelry and more. Highlighted will be paintings by Riverhurst artists Edie Marshall, Don Rode and Rhae Ann Bromley.

Last night’s game between the Moose Jaw Miller Express and Swift Current 57s was postponed. Instead, there will be a double header on Friday, July 5. 

The Miller Express next faces off against the Red Sox tomorrow in Regina. Their next home game at Ross Wells is Canada Day against the Edmonton Prospects starting at 6:05. 

The Moose Jaw Canucks 18U have a pair of games in Balgonie tomorrow, where they’ll matchup against the White Butte Broncos.

In Western Canadian Baseball League action, the Moose Jaw Miller Express is set to play the Swift Current 57s tonight at Ross Wells. The 57s have a 7-16 record this season, compared to the Millers’ 13-13.

The Moose Jaw Canucks AAA 18U beat the Regina Wolfpack 6-3 last night. They next play the Regina White Sox on Wednesday. 

The Moose Jaw Canucks 18U fell to the Assiniboia Aces 11-1. They’ll have a pair of games against the White Butte Broncos on Saturday in Balgonie.

In Western Canadian Baseball last night, the Moose Jaw Miller Express beat the Saskatoon Berries last night 10-9 in extra innings. The Miller Express next plays the Swift Current 57s at Ross Wells tomorrow. 

In Rambler Park Fastball League, the Moose Jaw Canadians beat the HWY 22 Cowboys 9-7, and the Moose Jaw Giants beat the Cowboys 11-5. Both games ran short due to time restrictions.

Tonight it's the Moose Jaw Canucks 18U vs the Assiniboia Aces at Ross Wells Park starting at 6. 

Major League Baseball, the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Boston Red Sox 9-4. 

Armed robbery suspect arrested

Following a Police Operation on the 800 block of Connaught Avenue yesterday, Moose Jaw Police have arrested Michael Sanderson. 

The 35-year-old man was wanted on warrants connected to an armed robbery that occurred in Moose Jaw in May, as well as offences that happened in Edmonton, Alberta. His first court appearance in Moose Jaw Provincial Court was set for today.

In Western Canadian Baseball tonight, the Moose Jaw Miller Express are home at Ross Wells, facing off against the Saskatoon Berries. The Miller Express is currently 12-13 on the season, with the Berries 9-13 on the season. 

In the Rambler Park Fastball League, tonight sees the Moose Jaw Giants and the Moose Jaw Canadians at Memorial Field, both playing the HWY 22 Cowboys. The Giants’ game gets underway at 7, with the Canadians starting at 9.

In Major League Baseball, the Toronto Blue Jays lost 7-6 to the Boston Red Sox.

WHL announces pre-season schedule

The Western Hockey League released the 2024 WHL Pre-season schedule, with 47 games being played between September 3 and September 15.

The first game of the pre-season is on Tuesday, September 3, with the Medicine Hat Tigers and Lethbridge Hurricanes playing at the Enmax Centre in Lethbridge.

The Moose Jaw Warriors and Regina Pats see their first pre-season game on Friday, September 6 at Affinity Place in Estevan.

Sports Round-Up: Monday, June 24

The Moose Jaw Miller Express beat the Sylvan Lake Gulls 3-0 at Toss Wells on Friday but fell to the Gulls 16-8 on Saturday. Yesterday saw the Express lose 6-5 to the Red Sox in Regina. The Express next face the Saskatoon Berries at Ross Wells tomorrow.

Moose Jaw Canucks 18U fell 12-8 to the Lethbridge Legion Lakers on Friday. On Saturday, the Canucks lost 9-6 to the Calgary Premier Blues 16U and also fell 8-1 to the Medicine Hat Knights. Sunday, they fell 17-7 to the Glacier Twins A. They next play the Assiniboia Aces 18U on Wednesday at Ross Wells. 

Police looking for Travis Oochoo

The Moose Jaw Police Service (MJPS) is asking residents to reach out if they know the whereabouts of Travis Oochoo. 
 

The 37-year-old man is wanted for charges including Failure to Appear, Breach of Court Order, and Unlawfully in a Dwelling. 
 

He’s described as 6’ 1” and 230 lbs with black hair and brown eyes, and police ask people not to approach Oochoo as he is considered violent.
