The blue line got a boost yesterday! The Moose Jaw Warriors announcing the return of veteran defencemen Vojtek Port and Kalem Parker from NHL training camps. It's expected both will be in the line-up when the Warriors host the Regina Pats Friday night at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.
The Warriors are also hoping to get star forward Brayden Yager back from the Winnipeg Jets in the coming days.
High school volleyball yesterday, the Junior Boys from Peacock beat Notre Dame 2 sets to none and Central beat Riverview 2 sets to none.
Police provide update on Manitoba Street East presence on Sunday
Police released details following an incident on the 400 block of Manitoba Street East yesterday.
They say they responded to a weapons call just after 4 p.m., with the complainant saying someone was reportedly “brandishing a firearm” in a residence.
One person pronounced dead following Sunday vehicle fire
A vehicle fire broke out Sunday night around 8:30 p.m. on the 700 block of Ominica Street East, with Moose Jaw Police Service members responding.
Police say they found a body in the vehicle, and EMS pronounced the person deceased.
Next of kin was notified.

The defending Western Hockey League champs didn't start the new season the way they wanted!
The Moose Jaw Warriors suffered back-to-back losses on the weekend, falling 5-2 in Friday’s season opener in Brandon against the Wheat Kings, and dropped a 6-4 decision to the Prince Albert Raiders on Saturday night.
The Warriors will be back on the ice Friday when they host the Regina Pats.
The Winmar AAA Warriors lost a pair preseason of games to the Swift Current Legionnaires this weekend, 5-4 on Friday and 4-3 on Sunday.

The Moose Jaw Warriors open the regular season tonight in Brandon against the Wheat Kings. You can catch all the action on Country 100 with James Gallo starting with the pregame show at 5:40, with puck drop at 6.
The team will be back at the Hangar tomorrow night, raising the championship banner, before taking on the Prince Albert Raiders.
The Moose Jaw Winmar AAA Warriors are at the Moose Jaw Events Centre tonight to face the Swift Current Legionnaires starting at 7.

The Moose Jaw Warriors are set to start the Western Hockey League regular season tomorrow night in Brandon against the Wheat Kings. The Voice of the Warriors James Gallo will have all the action, starting with the pre-game show at 5:40 and play-by-play to follow at 6 o'clock.
The Warriors return to Moose Jaw for their home opener Saturday against the Prince Albert Raiders. The night will see the banner raising for the Warriors’ WHL championship win last season, with the first 1500 fans getting a replica banner.

The Moose Jaw Warriors making some roster moves in preparation for the regular season which starts this weekend.
The Warriors re-assigned 16-year-old forwards Carson Deichert and Tyson Schamehorn to their respective U18 clubs.
Deichert, a third round pick in the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft, will join the Moose Jaw U18 AAA Warriors.
The Warriors now have 13 forwards, eight defencemen and three goaltenders on the roster, including four players away at NHL training camps.

Ahead of their regular reason starting this weekend, the Moose Jaw Warriors have released some special attractions for local hockey fans.
One of this year’s home game highlights is Championship Tuesdays, with limited edition cards being handed out at select games in recognition of the Warriors’ championship victory last season.
The Warriors open up their new season Friday in Brandon with the home opener Saturday against the Prince Albert Raiders.
As their pre-season continues, the Winmar AAA Warriors are in Regina tonight to face the Pat Canadians.
15 Wing commemorates Battle of Britain with flyby and ceremony
A flyby and ceremony were held at 15 Wing on Sunday morning to commemorate the Battle of Britain.
The Battle of Britain took place from July through October in 1940 during World War II.
Yesterday’s commemoration was attended by dignitaries, and family and friends of 15 Wing members.
