"A place where everyone knows your name!" - Central Station Chair Phillip Vallelly on the Grand Opening of the new facility.
Yesterday, a crowd of community members, business people, Central Station volunteers and staff gathered Tuesday to celebrate the grand opening of the new facility at 555 Main Street in Winkler.
The facility is equipped with a large, spacious licensed kitchen, and eating and meeting area, as well as several offices for community partner organizations to meet with people for support, a childcare room, and a multipurpose room with dividers for programming. The Winkler Food Cupboard is also located at the end of the building, complete with freezer and cooler space.
Morden Youth for Christ rolls into summer with a new set of wheels
Morden Youth for Christ Executive Director Ryan Smith is grateful for the community support allowing them to purchase a 15-passenger Ford transit van to take kids in one vehicle on outings this summer.
Smith said this purchase wouldn't be possible without community support.
"We were excited that the community came behind us and raised a whole bunch of money to provide it, and it's going to be a great tool to be able to take more kids on more trips, do more stuff, reach more kids. We're excited about that."
The support came from a few areas of Morden.
