SaskPower announces partnership with Ontario for nuclear power
SaskPower announced on Monday it is partnering with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) and its commercial subsidiary Laurentis Energy to continue the development of nuclear power and a Small Modular Reactor (SMR) in Saskatchewan.
The five-year Master Services Agreement would allow Saskatchewan and Ontario to share lessons learned, technical resources, expertise, best practices and operating experience.
Dallas Smith looking forward to performing on Holiday Train
It was recently announced that country artists Dallas Smith and Mackenzie Porter will be performing on this year’s CPKC Holiday Train.
For Smith, this will be his fourth or fifth time taking part on the holiday train.
Tonight's Shania Twain show a go following Wednesday's bus rollover
UPDATE: Members of Shania Twain's production crew were taken to hospital after a bus rolled and a truck jackknifed on the Trans-Canada highway in southeastern Saskatchewan Wednesday morning due to icy road conditions.
Twain was not on the bus.
The crash happened Wednesday morning shortly after 7 a.m. on Highway 1, east of Wolseley, which is 95 kilometres east of Regina.
All 13 people on the bus were taken to Indian Head Union Hospital. Two people were transferred to a hospital in Regina and the others were discharged.

Gas and diesel prices heading in different directions
Gas prices in Estevan have hovered around 155 cents per litre of regular to 159 cents per litre of regular for months, but an industry expert figures motorists could be in for a break at the pumps shortly.
Prices listed on GasBuddy ranged from 156.9 to 158.9 cents per litre of regular in Estevan on Thursday.
SaskPower holds information session about nuclear power
Saskatchewan residents wanting to learn more about the future of nuclear power in the provinces were able to take part in a call-in event hosted by SaskPower last week.
The event updated residents about the Small Modular Reactor (SMR) development project. The two study areas for an SMR are Elbow, near Lake Diefenbaker, and Estevan, near the Rafferty and Boundary Reservoirs.
28-year-old woman faces 53 counts of fraud for allegedly feigning terminal illness
A 28-year-old woman is facing 53 counts of fraud under $5,000.
According to the Moose Jaw Police Service, Katelyn Marie Ann Carle is accused of defrauding local businesses and residents by stating she had a terminal illness.
Between December 2021 and January 2022, businesses and residents lost approximately $16,000 by way of organized fundraisers and other financial assistance.
Former Estevan resident not seeking re-election in Moose Jaw Wakamow
Moose Jaw Wakamow MLA Greg Lawrence announced on Tuesday that he will not be seeking re-election for the 2024 provincial election.
Lawrence, who used to live in Estevan, has been the MLA for Moose Jaw Wakamow since 2011 and was re-elected in 2016 and 2020.
SCIC hands out record payments for Forage Rainfall Insurance Program
The Governments of Canada and Saskatchewan handed out a record level of payments through the Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation’s (SCIC) Forage Rainfall Insurance Program.
Over 90 per cent of the insured acres received a payment through the program. A total of $60.4 million in indemnities was paid across SCIC’s 17 forage risk zones.
Payments were issued to producers on Aug. 18.
