Rush fall short against Roughnecks in Moose Jaw

It was a packed house at the Moose Jaw Events Centre on Saturday as the Saskatchewan Rush hosted the Calgary Roughnecks in a pre-season game in the first National Lacrosse League game to be held in Saskatchewan outside of Saskatoon.

Despite it being a pre-season matchup, the game had a regular season feel as it was standing room only in the arena.

Motorists reminded to stay safe around snowplows

Snowplows will soon be out on the highways making sure they are clear of ice and snow so that they are safe to travel on. 

However, motorists are being reminded not to get lost “in the snow cloud” and to use caution around plows. 

“As you can see, our trucks are very large units, and you want to give us as much space and room as possible. As the saying goes, stay back and stay safe,” said snowplow operator Bryan Sherman. 

Gravelbourg educational assistant charged with sexual offences

A Gravelbourg teacher’s assistant was charged on Nov. 16 with sexual offences involving a male student. 

Gravelbourg RCMP received reports in September that a female teacher’s assistant at Ecole Gravelbourg School had allegedly committed offences involving a male teenage student at the school. 

Rush players looking forward to pre-season tilt in Moose Jaw

Time is starting to run out if you are looking to purchase tickets for the Saskatchewan Rush’s pre-season game against the Calgary Roughnecks on Saturday at the Moose Jaw Events Centre. 

As of Tuesday morning, there were only about 600 tickets left available as the first-ever National Lacrosse League game in Southern Saskatchewan closes in on a sellout.

SaskPower announces partnership with Ontario for nuclear power

SaskPower announced on Monday it is partnering with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) and its commercial subsidiary Laurentis Energy to continue the development of nuclear power and a Small Modular Reactor (SMR) in Saskatchewan. 

The five-year Master Services Agreement would allow Saskatchewan and Ontario to share lessons learned, technical resources, expertise, best practices and operating experience. 

Tonight's Shania Twain show a go following Wednesday's bus rollover

UPDATE: Members of Shania Twain's production crew were taken to hospital after a bus rolled and a truck jackknifed on the Trans-Canada highway in southeastern Saskatchewan Wednesday morning due to icy road conditions.

Twain was not on the bus.

The crash happened Wednesday morning shortly after 7 a.m. on Highway 1, east of Wolseley, which is 95 kilometres east of Regina.

All 13 people on the bus were taken to Indian Head Union Hospital. Two people were transferred to a hospital in Regina and the others were discharged.
