OPP looking to identify suspect from 2019 incident
Police in Pickle Lake are searching for a suspect after an unspecified incident in 2019.
The OPP says the Sioux Lookout OPP and Pickle Lake OPP are asking for the public’s help in identifying the individual involved in the incident in Pickle Lake’s downtown area on September 8, 2019.
Repairs complete on Rabbit Lake Road, now reopen
The City of Kenora says crews have wrapped up work on Rabbit Lake Road, and the roadway between the Creighton Youth Centre and the Rabbit Lake Trailer Park has reopened.
Crews were called to the area yesterday to repair a water main break, and no boil water advisories have been issued to date.
Residents are reminded to always slow down and move over when driving near working crews.
Community Foundation welcomes new President, board members
The Kenora & Lake of the Woods Region Community Foundation has selected its new leader.
Shannon Robinson assumed the position of Board President at their most recent AGM and she will be taking the place of Dennis Alvestad who has served as President for the past nine years.
“In some ways it's hard to believe that my three terms are up. It seemed to go by so quickly. I guess that’s why they say time flies when you’re having fun,” Alvestad says.
Kenora Rotary and Shelter Box helping Fellowship Centre
Tuesday, July 5, 2022, The Kenora Rotary Club and Shelter Box are working together with their Helping the Vulnerable Initiative in support of the Kenora Fellowship Centre.
Watch for the Rotary and Shelter Box tents set up at McLeod Park in the parking lot across from Husky the Muskie on Lakeview Drive from 12:00pm to 7:00pm.
Donations for our city's most vulnerable will be accepted throughout the day. The Kenora Fellowship Centre is in need of the following:
Fishing with our Frontline Healthcare Workers was a huge success
Our frontline workers have sacrificed so much over the past two years, to show their appreciation, that a number of sponsors made sure they got a morning of fantastic fishing!
Over the past few weeks, people in Kenora had the opportunity to nominate local frontline healthcare workers who they thought deserved a day of fishing with some of the best fishing guides Kenora has to offer. This was all part of the Fishing with our Frontline Healthcare Workers event.
Sports Update June 29
In Kenora slo-pitch action in the men's divisions, it was DSmith A's who took the game 38-10 over Matheson Bay. Beauty Bay dominated the Brewco Brewers 34-12. In the women's division, Dunit Contracting Diamonds won 24-17, the Renegades took over the Clippers 17-12 and DJ Services took it over the Neniska Crushers 23-10.
Police chief says two suspects dead, no members of public hurt in B.C. bank shootout
The chief of police in Saanich, British Columbia, says it is truly amazing that no members of the public were hurt during a gunfight at a bank in which two robbery suspects died.
Chief Const. Dean Duthie says two suspects who were believed to be wearing body armour died Tuesday in the gun battle with police outside a Bank of Montreal.
Six members of the Greater Victoria emergency response team were hurt, three of them seriously enough to require surgery.
Duthie says the emergency response team happened to be deployed nearby and was on the scene within minutes.
Two businesses closed but safe after Hungry Pug fire
Two local businesses have been forced to temporarily close their doors after this morning’s fire at the Hungry Pug Cafe.
Michelle Livingston is the owner of Island Girl Kenora at 309 Second Street South, located next to the Hungry Pug, and she explains what she was dealing with early this morning.

Rabbit Lake Road closed until further notice
The City of Kenora is warning drivers that Rabbit Lake road is closed to all traffic until further notice after a water main break.
The city says the closure is between the Creighton Youth Centre and Henry Street near the Rabbit Lake Trailer Park area. There is no access through the repair site, and you’re asked to avoid the area.
Residents are reminded to slow down and move over when near working crews.
