Voting at two Kiiwetinoong polling stations extended
Two polling stations in the Kiiwetinoong riding are among 27 polling stations across Ontario that will be open later than 8 p.m.
Kiiwetinoong poll 19 will now closed at 10 p.m., while Kiiwetinoong poll 28 will now close at 8:30 p.m.
Results are the Kiiwetinoong won't be released until 10 p.m.
As of publishing, there are no reported delays in the Kenora-Rainy River riding.
Evacuation order issued for Sedesky Road and Wildwood Drive, flood watch expands
An evacuation order has been issued for residents of the Sedesky Road and Wildwood Drive areas.
Residents along those roads should evacuate the area immediately.
The City of Kenora says, "water is now approaching ten inches on Sedesky Road and was closed late yesterday afternoon."
The flood watch has expected to now include Herbacz Road, Golf Course Road, Gould Road.
Residents along those roads, along with West Bay Road and Second West Bay Road should be monitoring their homes and the possibility of flooding in their areas.
Rising water levels, flooding causing issues for local marinas
High water levels continue to cause issues across the district for both residents and business owners.
Owner of Kenora’s Northern Harbour on Lake of the Woods, Gary Hall, explains what he’s dealing with at his marina on Northern Harbour Road, near Longbow Lake.
“What we’re seeing is that levels are up from 2014. Our gas dock and area where we use our boat lift is 12” to 15” under the water right now. It’s Mother Nature at her best. We’re going to try to sandbag around them to get the [fuel pumps] working again. But we may not be able to. We’re going to try.”
Gas prices spike, again
Gas prices have spiked once again, setting a new all-time record.
A number of service stations in Kenora are reporting between 210.9 and 212.9 per litre for regular gasoline.
This is an increase of seven to nine cents per litre since yesterday (Wednesday, June 1, 2022).
Warrant leads to drug bust, cocaine and meth seized
Two Dryden residents are facing charges following a drug bust.
On May 31, members of the Dryden Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Canine (K-9) with assistance from Treaty 3 Police Service (T3PS) and Nishnawbe Aski Police Service (NAPS) executed a search warrant on an Earl Avenue residence in the City of Dryden.

Northwestern Ontario residents will be heading to the polls to elect our local and provincial leaders today through the 2022 Provincial Election.
Ontarians have between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. to cast a ballot. Voters must be 18-years-old, a Canadian citizen and resident of Ontario, and you must be on Elections Ontario’s voters list. Residents are asked to bring their Voter Information Card they received in the mail along with a piece of photo identification.

In Casey's Women's soccer league, the Jarnel Cranes defeated the Sultana Gold Diggers 1-0, while the Pizzacats took down Dufresne’s 1-0.
In Kenora Slo pitch on the men's side, Brewco "brewed" the Wolfpack 42-8. Meanwhile, the CarStar Rockies rocked the Lakeside Dental Gators 31-5.

Two records broken for Lake of the Woods, peak still coming
2022 continues to be a record-breaking year for the watershed.
According to the Lake of the Woods Control Board (LWCB), April and May 2022 have been the wettest on record. 272 mm of precipitation fell in April and May, well above the 120-year median of 122 mm.
The later snowmelt and higher levels of precipitation in 2022 have led to unprecedented flooding across the region.
Kenora Pride kicks off
The arrival of June marks the start of National Pride Month around the country and Kenora Pride kicked off the festivities by raising the Treaty 3 Pride flag.
