Okotoks transportation team lead clarifies snow clearing strategy

It's been a slippery week in Okotoks after the sudden dump of snow.

The Town of Okotoks has been hearing complaints from some locals about not seeing snow-clearing vehicles, a lack of sand on the roads, and general slippery conditions in town.

The town does have a rigorous system for snowfall events and snow clearing, where roadways are divided into three priorities.

Priority 1 routes include arterial roads and downtown streets.

The Point broadens its horizons

One of Okotoks’ newest hangout spots is branching out.

The Point launched in early 2022 with the subtitle "a place for teens."

For a long time, Okotokians had expressed the desire for an entertainment/recreation space for teens outside of existing spots like the rec centre.

Sara and Gavin Rae were happy to rise to the occasion, and it was well received.

Ryan Watson arrested again after copper wire theft

Ryan Watson has had another run-in with the law, after a break-in and copper wire theft on June 1.

Strathmore RCMP has confirmed he's the same Ryan Randy Watson who made national headlines in 2018 for his role in the Eddie Maurice property rights case.

Maurice fired warning shots at Watson and another individual after he found them intruding on his property, with a bullet ending up lodged in Watson's arm.

Watson sued Maurice for $100,000, and Maurice counter-sued for $150,000.

Both claims were dropped in January 2020.
