Wildlife Animal Hospital is taking in many patients with a variety of needs and last week, the medical team had to pull the executive director, Zoe Nakata, in to assist with an emergency surgery.

Nakata does not usually help in this area and found it to be quite an experience.

Work continues to keep Hanover Ag grounds a busy place year-round

The Hanover Ag. Society continues to work on turning the exhibition park in Grunthal into a place that can easily be used throughout the year.

And President Curtis Dawydiuk says the vision is to have the place used as much as possible, during every season.

“There was a vision many years ago of expanding and making it a year-round facility venue and we're starting to see some of that fruit,” he says. “It's really exciting.”

Summer in the City gains non-profit status, charitable organization

Some key changes are happening for Steinbach’s annual summer festival which has now achieved the status of a non-profit, charitable organization.

Board chairperson Audrey Harder says this means they can now access federal and provincial grants, which they could not do while it was operating under the umbrella of the City of Steinbach.

And it means the festival cannot become a money-maker.
