Bibeau re-affirms $1.7 million in CUSMA compensation for supply-managed sectors
On a dairy farm in the Eastern Townships, Agriculture and Agri-Food Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau re-affirmed the Government's commitment to provide compensation for supply-managed sectors for the impacts of the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA). Dairy, poultry and egg producers and processors are expected to share more than $1.7 billion in direct payments and investment programs.
This federal investment will help dairy, poultry and egg producers and processors make key investments and improve their operations to be even more competitive and sustainable.
NCC launches a new critical grassland project
Nature Conservancy of Canada works on large-scale, permanent land conservation to protect the country’s most important natural areas.
The latest project involves a critical grassland area on a massive tract of land in the Interlake area of Manitoba.
The Lake Ranch project involves nearly 2,700 hectares and is home to a number of Canada's Species at Risk such as the Sprague’s pipit and bobolink which breed in the large expanses of grasslands. While the project wetlands attract migratory wetland birds like western grebes.

It's a big weekend for Saskatchewan's Agricultural Hall of Fame as they celebrate their 50th anniversary and welcome six new inductees.
President Reed Andrew says Saturday's event will honor six individuals who have made a significant contribution to the Province's agriculture sector.
This year's inductees include Jim Bessel, Margaret Crowle (posthumous), Jack Dawes, Leslie Hill, Dr. Jeffrey Schoenau, and Mark Silzer.
Jim Bessel is known for the establishment of canola as a profitable crop for farmers.

Quorum Corporation's latest Grain Monitoring Update focused on grain shipping week 13.
According to the report at the end of October space at primary elevators was good. Country elevator stocks had dropped to 3.86 MMT utilizing 70% capacity, with deliveries to primary elevators totaling 1.16 MMT.
Year-to-date Western Canadian shipments from port terminal elevators during the week were 18% higher than the same period last year and 5% lower than the 3-year average.
New funding announced for small and micro food enterprises
Federal Agriculture Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau has announced a $336,858 investment to help small agricultural businesses further expand into grocery and food services.
The federal government is supporting the creation of a certification program that will allow businesses to meet specific trade requirements.
The funding will support GS1 Canada, a not-for-profit association, to develop training tailored to small and micro food enterprises.
Financial incentives for potato growers who focus on regenerative agriculture and sustainability
