Warriors to host Prince Albert for 2024-25 Home Opener
The Moose Jaw Warriors will return to the Hangar for the first time in the 2024-25 season on Saturday, Sept. 21.
The Warriors will host the Prince Albert Raiders for the banner raising night as the team will celebrate its 2024 WHL Championship at the Home Opener.
Moose Jaw opens the 2024-25 regular season the night before against the Wheat Kings in Brandon on Friday, Sept. 20.
The full schedule will be released at a later date.
Calvert signs with AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins
Atley Calvert is heading to the pro ranks next season.
The Moose Jaw product signed a two-year American Hockey League contract with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Monday, joining the Pittsburgh Penguins’ minor league affiliate.
Calvert is coming off a historic season with the Moose Jaw Warriors where he helped lead the team to the first Western Hockey League Championship in franchise history.
Championship Celebration set for Sunday afternoon
The Moose Jaw Warriors are excited to celebrate a historic 2023-24 season with our amazing fans this Sunday, June 2, in downtown Moose Jaw.
Join the Warriors for an arrival down Main Street, starting at 3 p.m. on Sunday, to welcome the team back from their first ever appearance at the Memorial Cup.
Following the team’s arrival, there will be a championship celebration at the Hangar, starting at 4 p.m.
Players and coaches from this year’s championship team will speak and there will be an opportunity for photos with the Ed Chynoweth Cup.

Saginaw, Mich.—The Moose Jaw Warriors’ historic season has come to an end in Saginaw.
The WHL Champions have exited the tournament after a 7-1 semifinal loss to the host Saginaw Spirit.
Warriors captain leading team on and off the ice at Memorial Cup
Saginaw, Mich. – Denton Mateychuk has a knack for raising his game to another level when the team needs it the most.
The Moose Jaw Warriors’ captain has done it once again during the round robin at the 2024 Memorial Cup, presented by Dow.
Mateychuk currently leads the tournament in scoring with three goals and seven points through three games.
“It’s a new experience for all of us and we’re just trying to soak it all in and learn as much as we can,” Mateychuk said.
Yager family reflects on victories, sacrifices and whirlwind year

Three hundred and sixty-five days ago, Moose Jaw Warriors alternate captain Brayden Yager was brushing off the sting of a second-round playoff exit and looking ahead to the 2023 NHL Entry Draft in Nashville, Tenn.
Since then, he’s been selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins with the 14th overall pick, attended his first NHL camp, competed for Canada at the IIHF World Junior Championship, clinched a WHL Championship and has continued to fill the net for the Warriors at the 2024 Memorial Cup.

Saginaw, Mich.- Zoky and Devon Lakovic were in the middle of moving houses in the Okanagan while they were watching their son, Lynden, and the Moose Jaw Warriors fight for their playoff lives in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Championship.
With the chaos of packing, they hadn’t been able to get out to a Warriors playoff game- yet.

Saginaw, Mich.— Another day, another franchise first.
With a 5-3 win over the Drummondville Voltigeurs, the Moose Jaw Warriors have earned the team’s first victory at the Memorial Cup.
18-year-old defenceman Aiden Ziprick- who had just one career WHL goal entering the night- sealed the historic decision with a shorthanded goal late in the game.
PREVIEW: Warriors ready for must-win game against Drummondville
During this year’s playoff run, the Moose Jaw Warriors have been used to having their backs against the wall and fighting back.
The Warriors will face that situation heading into Tuesday night’s showdown with the Drummondville Voltigeurs at the 2024 Memorial Cup, presented by Dow.
“We’ve just got to lay it all on the line,” Warriors forward Brayden Yager said. “It’s do-or-die from now on and we’ve got nothing to save it for.”
Moose Jaw dropped their second straight game to open the tournament, falling 5-4 to the OHL champion London Knights on Monday night.
