Participants at last week's Canada Grain Act Summit covered a lot of topics from the mandate of the Canadian Grain Commission to issues around delivery contracts
and market information.

The event brought together producers, industry and government representatives from across the prairies.

The President of the Agricultural Producers Association of Saskatchewan (APAS) Ian Boxall says one thing everyone agrees on is that the Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) must focus on following its mandate of protecting producers.

Kris Auest, AKA The Gate Keepa is reigniting his passion for music.

To someone who has never heard his music, Auest shared that "When they hear the lyrics and the message, it really speaks to the person's heart and causes them to think about life and why they're living it."

It all started almost 20 years ago when he would write poems and songs, that his friends told him to turn into Christian rap. The ultimate goal, as he shares is, "To minister to the brokenhearted."

New local doctor in Valleyview

Local and area residents have improved access to primary care with the recruitment of a family physician in the community.

Dr. Aiman Tataba is now practising at the Valleyview Health Centre and Valleyview Medical Clinic. He joins a team of four physicians in the community.

“It is great news to welcome Dr. Tataba to Valleyview,” says Todd Lowen, MLA for Central Peace-Notley. “Having his expertise in the community will enhance access to primary care for local and area residents. I’d like to welcome him to the community and wish him all the best in his medical career here.”

Beaverlodge RCMP requests public assistance in identifying suspect

On March 8, 2024, at approximately 11:08 a.m., Beaverlodge RCMP was advised of a theft that occurred on March 7, 2024, at 6:12 p.m., at a building on 2 Ave in Beaverlodge. Footage obtained revealed a male suspect exiting the passenger side of a dark coloured SUV, accessing the driver side of the victim’s vehicle and stealing several items. The suspect then returned to the dark SUV and left the area. Among the stolen items were credit cards, which were used at several businesses in Grande Prairie, Alta., including Home Depot, Walmart and a Liquor Store.

Seasonal street sweeping operations underway in Grande Prairie

The City of Grande Prairie has started seasonal street sweeping operations on arterial roads.

Street sweeping includes cleaning debris from the roadway, medians, concrete barriers, and boulevards.

Sweeping of the arterial and collector roadways and transit routes is anticipated to last until late May, weather dependent. City crews have also begun sweeping City trails.

Earlier this month, K-Anthony found out that he was nominated for a Juno award for Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album of the Year.  

"I was blown away, to be honest. I was actually coming from class when I got the message," said K-Anthony. "I don't take it for granted. I'm very much grateful that I was nominated."
