A flash freeze warning is in effect for the Peace Country today:

Temperatures are forecast to fall rapidly. Ponding water, slush, and any falling precipitation will freeze as the temperature drops.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.

Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather.

Seniors light parade returns for its third year

The 3rd Annual Seniors Light Parade is set to spread holiday cheer on Saturday, December 14th. What began a few years ago with a few decorated trucks visiting senior homes during the pandemic has grown into a beloved community tradition. Starting in Clairmont at 5:00 PM on December 14th, the parade will join the AG Society parade before heading to Grande Prairie to visit neighborhoods and senior homes, including Mackenzie Place, Pioneer Lodge, and Wild Rose Manor.

Former NFL player Randy Moss is asking for prayers as he battles an ongoing health issue. 

The former New England Patriots player turned ESPN Sunday NFL Countdown host was bombarded with messages after a recent broadcast in which Moss' eyes are yellow. 

"You were talking about my eyes last week," said Moss in a post on Instagram. "I just want to let the viewers know that me and my wife, me and my family, we are battling something internally."

Canadian among three climbers missing on New Zealand's highest peak

A Canadian is among three climbers missing after they'd planned to climb New Zealand's highest peak.

A news release from the New Zealand Police says two Americans, Kurt Blair, 56, and Carlos Romero, 50, and the unnamed Canadian flew into Plateau Hut on Saturday morning and planned to summit Aoraki, also known as Mount Cook.

But the release says they didn't meet their planned flight out on Monday morning, and were reported overdue.

It says searchers located several climbing-related items which are believed to have belonged to the three men.

Assembly of First Nations special chiefs assembly kicks off in Ottawa

The Assembly of First Nations is hosting a special chiefs assembly in Ottawa today with child welfare, economic reconciliation and First Nations policing on the agenda.

The gathering comes after a testy October assembly where chiefs were divided on how to reform the First Nations child welfare system.

A tree fell in Fullerton

1 Corinthians 10:11-13

One year a large section of a tree fell not far from where we had lived for over 22 years. Within minutes several of us had gathered to grieve the loss. As I stood there staring in disbelief, the thought struck me, This happened only minutes ago...but it's been in the process of happening for a long, long time. No tree just suddenly breaks apart. Once we were able to see beneath the thick bark at the break, it was obvious that some kind of killer disease had been at work for years. 

Searchers begin sifting at landfill for remains of slain First Nations women

Excavation and sifting started Monday of a section of a landfill believed to hold the remains of two slain First Nations women.

Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew said he was at the site when the first truck moved a load of refuse from the area to a Quonset hut, where searchers are manually sifting through it in the hope of finding the remains of Morgan Harris and Marcedes Myran. 

Police believe the remains of the women were sent to the Prairie Green landfill north of Winnipeg in May 2022.
