Canada’s unemployment rate holds steady at 6.5% in October, economy adds 15,000 jobs

Canada’s unemployment rate held steady at 6.5 per cent last month as hiring remained weak across the economy.

Statistics Canada’s labour force survey on Friday said employment rose by a modest 15,000 jobs in October.

Business, building and support services saw the largest gain in employment.

Meanwhile, finance, insurance, real estate, rental and leasing experienced the largest decline.

Many economists see weakness in the job market continuing in the short term, before the Bank of Canada’s interest rate cuts spark a rebound in economic growth next year.

A veteran Ottawa Citizen journalist who was accused by a former cabinet minister of being a Russian asset said it is the "height of irony" that a parliamentary committee studying disinformation has fallen for it.

David Pugliese told the House of Commons security committee on Thursday he found it astonishing that none of the MPs challenged the allegations when they were made last month

Brandon Lake releases new vulnerable, hard-hitting single

Christian artist Brandon Lake is releasing a new single with soulful lyrics and a bit of rock, called "Hard Fought Hallelujah."

Earlier this year in July Lake released the single "That's Who I Praise," which has been well-received by fans. This new song is also a single with no talk on when a new album may be released.

Lake won three GMA Dove Awards in October for his 2023 album Coat of Many Colors

Verse of the Day: November 8

Joshua 24:15

But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.

Philippians 4

Laurence J. Peter and I are close friends. Although I've never laid eyes on him, I've smiled at his comments and nodded at his conclusions...amazed at his remarkable insight into my own life and those around me.

The simple answer to the riddle is this: I own a copy of his book The Peter Prescription, and you should too! It's an insignificant looking paperback filled with significant, sound principles. He says it talks about "How to Be Creative, Confident, and Competent," but I think he overlooked a better word: how to be Content
