City unveils $480K upgrade to Dakota Waterplay Park

Manitobans are invited to explore the newly renovated Dakota Waterplay Park at the Dakota Community Centre. 

“Community investment in projects like the Dakota Wading Pool and Waterplay Park help our neighbourhoods thrive,” said Mike Moyes, Minister of Environment and Climate Change and MLA for Riel in a news release. “The province of Manitoba is proud to contribute funding to this new playground so that children and families can enjoy healthy recreation and time together for years to come.”

Leaf Rapids largely spared as fire crews return to battle wildfire

Manitoba Hydro boosts vegetation work and tree trimming amid record tree-related outages

To help prevent power outages across the province, Manitoba Hydro is stepping up its tree trimming and vegetation management.

Tree contact is the most common reason for power outages in Manitoba, and last year alone, there were over 2,600 tree-related power outages in the province, the most they've dealt with in over a decade. 

Although the utility has always worked to keep trees and brush away from its infrastructure, the company is now taking more action along its power lines and equipment.
