Wildfire evacuees continue returning home in Manitoba, Saskatchewan
Wildfire evacuees continued to make their way home in some Manitoba communities Tuesday, but there were hurdles.
Tataskweyak Cree Nation lifted its evacuation order Monday evening, then told the community's 2,400 residents Tuesday morning the return was being delayed due to problems with the water system.
"Water tests came back (with) high aluminum. The pipes and reservoir will need to be cleaned and samples taken after the cleaning," said a message posted on the chief and council's Facebook page.

Doctors Manitoba says physicians field requests for more than 600,000 sick notes every year from employees who take time off work, and that takes time away from treating patients.
The group is asking the Manitoba government to follow most other provinces and set limits on how employers can demand sick notes.

Prime Minister Mark Carney outlined $4.3 billion in new support for Ukraine's defence as he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Alberta on Tuesday.
The Prime Minister's Office said that sum includes $2 billion for weapons like drones, ammunition and armoured vehicles — funding that Canada will count toward its NATO defence spending target.

A missing 58-year-old adult has been safely located.
Police sent out a release Tuesday afternoon saying the adult was last seen June 15 at approximately 10:30 a.m. in the West End.
The adult was located on Tuesday afternoon.

Tastaskweyak Cree Nation cleared to return after wildfire threat
More wildfire evacuees are heading home.
As of 6:45 p.m. on Monday, the mandatory fire evacuation for Tastaskweyak Cree Nation was lifted.
Officials in the community say the fire has been contained and there is only one area of concern left.
The water treatment plant was back up and running on Sunday, and Manitoba Hydro crews will start working on damaged poles in the area beginning on June 18.
Pedestrian killed in early morning collision on Highway 1 near Headingley
A 67-year-old man is dead after being struck by a pickup truck early Tuesday morning on Highway 1 near McGuckin Road in Headingley.
The collision occurred around 3 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17, prompting a response from Headingley RCMP, Emergency Medical Services, and the local fire department.
RCMP say the pedestrian, described as a transient male, was walking along the highway when he was hit by a westbound pickup truck.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the truck, a 52-year-old woman from Winnipeg, was not injured.
