Humboldt Watrous MLA writes apology for accusing federal NDP leader Jagmeet Singh of being 'a terrorist'
Humboldt Watrous MLA Racquel Hilbert issued an apology on Wednesday for a statement she made in the legislature calling the federal New Democratic Party leader ‘a terrorist.’
Hilbert made the comment during a debate on the provincial economy and the efforts of the Sask Party government to secure trade agreements with international partners.
Saskatchewan launches U.S. physician recruitment campaign
Saskatchewan is turning to its southern neighbour in a bid to attract more doctors, launching a digital recruitment campaign aimed at encouraging American physicians to relocate and practise in the province.
The campaign, developed by the provincial government in partnership with the Saskatchewan Healthcare Recruitment Agency (SHRA), targets physicians currently working in several U.S. states. It promotes the province as a destination for medical professionals seeking greater stability, competitive compensation and a better work-life balance.
Post-secondary council brings diverse student perspectives to Sask government
Saskatchewan’s Post-Secondary Student Council has completed its second year, with 24 students from across the province providing input on key issues such as financing education, student success and ministry supports.
Over the course of the 2024–25 academic year, the council met four times with government officials to share feedback on a range of topics related to higher education. Council members represent a variety of post-secondary institutions and bring diverse perspectives to the table.
Kindersley Minor Ball in desperate need of coaches
Kindersley Minor Ball put out a call for help on Thursday.
They need coaches for three different levels, Jr Rally Cap, U15 softball, and U18. They need coaches and helpers for each level and are hoping that somebody steps up to save the season.
"We have until (Friday) to find help, or these kids don’t get to play." one person on Facebook shared. "Please inquire it’s a short fun season but the memories last a lifetime."
Smile Cookie week charity chosen, excavator deal reworked in Kindersley Council meeting April 7
The Kindersley Town council held their Regular Meeting on Monday, April 7.
The Town Council talked with Tim Hortons to decide which charity receives the funds from the Spring Smile Cookie week and Holiday Smile Cookie Week. This year, for Spring Smile Cookie Week, Council chose the Kindersley & District Plains Museum to receive the funds. The funding will go towards repairing the leaking roof of the main museum building.
Walter Aseltine School gets Rider Reading visit
A pair of Saskatchewan Roughriders made a stop in Rosetown at the end of March for the "Rider Reading Program".
On March 24, Roughriders long snapper Jorgen Hus, a Rider Reading veteran, was joined by offensive lineman Noah Zerr for a visit at Walter Aseltine School. The elementary school was just the latest place of learning to get a visit from the Roughriders, encouraging and supporting reading.
Province moving forward with pilot for safe disposal of derelict structures

Both sides of the aisle had something to say as amendments were introduced to The Construction Codes Act inside the Saskatchewan Legislative Assembly on Wednesday. Pilot framework on how to assist municipalities with the safe disposal of derelict structures was tabled, with the hopes to have it in place by the summer.
Kindersley Minor Hockey wrapping up season prior to Esso Awards
The Esso Awards for Kindersley Minor Hockey are coming up next week in the community. In the leadup, Minor Sports had their coaches/managers supper on Tuesday to celebrate the season a little early, and the U13 Klippers were one team that completed their windup, taking in the Saskatchewan Rush game on April 4.
The U13 Klippers packed the bus Friday afternoon for the Rush game windup, getting to their fantastic SaskTel Centre seats for warmups as most of the team was able to take home a Rush warmup ball.
Federal NDP leader worried for kids after Saskatchewan MLA called him a terrorist
Federal NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh says he's worried about the message being sent to children after a Saskatchewan legislature member and former teacher called him a terrorist.
Speaking to reporters in Richmond, B.C., Singh said he didn't care personally about the comment but questioned why Saskatchewan Party MLA Racquel Hilbert would even say such a thing.
Police presence in Davidson ends following morning investigation: RCMP
Saskatchewan RCMP say an increased police presence in the town of Davidson has ended following an earlier investigation Thursday morning.
Mounties issued a notice around 8:40 a.m. asking residents to avoid areas where officers were active and to follow any directions given by police.
Details regarding the nature of the investigation have not yet been released.
In a brief follow-up statement just after 10 a.m., RCMP confirmed the police presence had concluded and said further information would be shared when available.
