The move is part of the Canola Council of Canada's new strategic framework, 'Canola Forward: A Strategic Framework for 2025-2030.'

The news came in a press release announcing the new framework. Chris Davison, president & CEO, says the framework is focused on priorities identified by the Canadian canola industry and is aligned to help the industry seize emerging opportunities while navigating changing industry and trade dynamics.

Unity taking on Marysburg to start Tier 1 provincials in Saskatoon

Seven of the provinces top senior baseball teams are in Saskatoon this weekend for Baseball Sask AA Tier 1 provincials.

Coming off hosting and winning Tier 2 provincials last year, the Unity Cardinals were excited to announce earlier this summer that they were once again moving up a level in competition, this time to the highest degree.

The Cardinals will face the Marysburg Royals at 10:30 AM on Friday in the tournament's first game. The Cards will get a long rest after the opener with their second game not until Saturday at 3:30 against the Regina Trappers.

Fatal crashes on Saskatchewan rural roads hit six-year high in 2024: RCMP

Saskatchewan RCMP say 2024 marked the deadliest year on rural roads in more than half a decade, with 88 people killed in 77 fatal crashes, the highest total in six years.

Serious injuries were also on the rise. Last year saw 271 collisions involving serious injuries, a 43 per cent increase from 2023. In total, 321 people were seriously injured, up 48 per cent year-over-year.

Macklin RCMP report quiet week with only three calls

RCMP in Macklin had a quiet week between July 22 and 28, with members responding to two false alarms and a single traffic complaint.

No charges or further action were required in connection with the reports.

Residents are reminded that suspicious or criminal activity can be reported anonymously through Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers or by contacting the local detachment.

Macklin RCMP encourage the use of the Online Crime Reporting tool for certain non-urgent incidents such as minor theft, vandalism, and online fraud.

Union vote on Canada Post contract offer set to wrap up Friday afternoon

Unionized workers at Canada Post are entering their final day to vote on the Crown corporation's latest contract offer.

Voting is set to wrap up today at 5 p.m., with results expected to be shared shortly after.

The offer includes wage hikes of about 13 per cent over four years but also adds part-time workers that Canada Post has said are necessary to keep the postal service afloat.

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers has urged the roughly 55,000 postal service workers it represents to reject the proposal.

Trump hits Canada with 35 per cent tariffs

Canada was hit with 35 per cent tariffs on Friday after U.S. President Donald Trump followed through on his threat to increase the duties if Ottawa didn't make a trade deal.

The White House has said the tariffs would not affect goods compliant with the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement on trade, commonly known as CUSMA.

Prime Minister Mark Carney had tempered expectations of an agreement by Friday, saying Ottawa will only agree to a deal "if there's one on the table that is in the best interests of Canadians."
