Saskatchewan removing industrial carbon tax in the province: Premier Moe

Saskatchewan is putting forward a plan to remove the industrial carbon tax from the province, originally announced yesterday by Premier Scott Moe.

The consumer side of the carbon tax was ordered to be dropped on April 1st by the federal government, with the industrial tax staying.

The original social media post by Premier Moe detailed how Saskatchewan will become the first carbon tax-free province.

Estevan Minor Baseball gearing up for busy summer of hometown tournaments

A big summer for baseball in Estevan is seeing the first steps towards multiple tournaments and other events in the southeast. Estevan Minor Baseball is working towards those events, with teams from across the province getting involved.

President of Estevan Minor Baseball, Mel Murray, says that they're still in the early stages.

"Right now, the AA teams and the AAA teams are getting formed. Once everything gets going, we'll pick our host teams and get them established for the first of May."

APAS vice-president hopes federal election sees balance between environmental and agriculture priorities

With a federal election on the horizon, agriculture organizations are taking a look at some of the actions they want to see for the future.

Trump's auto tariffs derail Carney's federal election campaign plans

Liberal Leader Mark Carney is back in Ottawa today to deal with the fallout of new auto tariffs announced by U.S. President Donald Trump. 

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Carney said he was suspending his campaign plans for the day and would return to Ottawa to hold a meeting of the Canada-U.S. cabinet committee.

It's unclear when Carney will be back on the road to continue campaigning. 

Saskatoon hit with drug crisis with hundreds of overdose calls in past month

The head of Saskatoon's only safe consumption site says she saw the current drug crisis coming.

Kayla DeMong, executive director of Prairie Harm Reduction, says that since January, staff at the facility have spent their days responding to drug overdoses, reviving four to six people at any given time.

She said a more toxic supply of drugs entered the city earlier this year and she flagged to public officials that something needed to be done.

Alishia Mann, president of the Estevan and District Music Festival Association, said the annual event serves as a performing arts competition featuring a range of disciplines, including piano, vocal, musical theatre, spoken word, and instrumental music.
