STF and province move forward on agreement by nominating arbitrators
The province and the Saskatchewan Teacher's Federation (STF) are moving closer to an agreement they can both agree on with nominees named for their arbitration panel.
That panel consists of three people who will arbitrate for the agreement - one nominated by the STF, one nominated by the province, and another who has been agreed upon by both parties.

Intense weather on the way as heat warning issued for the southeast
Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for the southeast, with temperatures expected to rise rapidly over the next two days.
Daytime high temperatures reaching 32 degrees Celsius and above, and overnight lows near 16 degrees Celsius are forecast over the next several days. Humidity will also be noticeable, with humidex values likely exceeding 38.
The slow-moving ridge of high pressure responsible for bringing the extreme heat into Saskatchewan is expected to reach a peak on Thursday, collapsing soon after.

Redvers revitalizes heritage with Hometown History project expansion
Redvers is continuing to celebrate its heritage as it expands and improves the Hometown History Project.
Assistant Chief Administrative Officer for Redvers, Jena Cowan, explained that each year the Town of Redvers puts out a call for nominations to honor those in the community for athletic achievements or community impact.
“We’ve always had those old ones like the Pride of Redvers, but they were so sun-faded and cracked that we thought instead of just replacing them and moving on, we should expand it and make it a little more exciting.”
Estevan seeing success hosting numerous summer events
Estevan has had a busy summer with multiple events being hosted in the community, bringing the southeast to the energy city.
This includes many sporting events, such as baseball and softball provincials, as well as the recent street dance held over the weekend.
Estevan Mayor Roy Ludwig says that the city's doing well to attract so many events.
Community support needed for Lions Club's Rusty Duce rink project
The Estevan Lions Club is gearing up for a significant fundraising effort to install permanent rink boards at the Rusty Duce Memorial Park. This project aims to enhance the area, allowing for ice in the winter and volleyball sand courts in the summer.
Federal Agriculture Minister announces 13 semi-finalists in the Agricultural Methane Reduction Challenge
The $12-million Challenge, launched in November 2023 in partnership with Impact Canada, uses a staged approach to move innovators through the process of developing and deploying their solutions in the cow-calf, dairy and feedlot sectors. The first stage of the Challenge attracted 86 applications from innovators across Canada and internationally. The 13 semi-finalists' entries span a diverse range of areas including feed additives and related technologies; production efficiencies and animal management systems; and pasture and grazing management approaches.
Estevan lane part of 4th street detour to be closed
A section of an Estevan street is closed today which is commonly used as a detour for the 4th street work.
The 6th Street's 1200 block for eastbound traffic will be closed today, including the south sidewalk, for construction.
That means people turning off of Souris Avenue will not be able to turn onto 6th Street.
The 4th Street's revitalization project is continuing with access fully blocked between the 1000 and 1200 blocks.
