On a day like today, where the temperature could hit 34 and a high humidex is expected. I thought maybe a cool photo, may help you through your day.

I photographed this fox right here in the southeast, it was very curious about me. I had shut everything off and just sat and watched it for 5 minutes. All of a sudden it started to move, it came directly towards me, closing the distance to about 25 feet. I managed to get several really good shots before it slowly made it's way back to some trees where it came from.

Health Authority’s heat wave advice: How to avoid heat-related illnesses

With heat warnings sweeping across the province, health officials are urging everyone to take precautions to stay safe during the extreme temperatures.

Dr. Stanley Enebeli, medical health officer for Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) said that there is a spectrum of heat related illnesses. This includes skin irritation such as heat rash.  

Continued exposure to extreme temperatures can lead to muscle cramps, and swelling of hands, feet, and ankles.  

Farmers with unpaid deliveries to LSM Grain Ltd should contact the CGC immediately

On Tuesday, the Canadian Grain Commission revoked the grain dealer licence of LSM Grain Ltd. in Saskatoon.

Grain farmers in Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Alberta may be owed money by this company for grain deliveries.

According to the company's website they handle Organic and Conventional cereals, pulses and oilseeds.

Grain farmers who may be affected could be eligible for compensation through the CGC's Safeguards for Grain Farmers Program. 

Bank of Canada cuts key interest rate by quarter percentage point to 4.5%

The Bank of Canada cut its key interest rate for a second consecutive time on Wednesday, but warned the path back to two per cent inflation may be uneven and would ultimately determine the pace of future rate cuts.

The central bank says its decision to lower its policy rate by a quarter percentage point was motivated by easing price pressures and weakening economic conditions.

Its key interest rate now stands at 4.5 per cent.

Drowning Prevention Week emphasizes water safety in Saskatchewan

As Drowning Prevention Week unfolds from July 21-27, 2024, the Lifesaving Society is urging residents to prioritize water safety. Shelby Rushton, CEO of the Lifesaving Society's Saskatchewan Branch, emphasizes the critical need for precautions to prevent water-related accidents and fatalities.

“What’s really important to realize is that water can be a hazard, and that we need to take precautions. Things like wearing a life jacket, watching your kids around the water, and learning to swim are very important,” said Rushton.

STF and province move forward on agreement by nominating arbitrators

The province and the Saskatchewan Teacher's Federation (STF) are moving closer to an agreement they can both agree on with nominees named for their arbitration panel.

That panel consists of three people who will arbitrate for the agreement - one nominated by the STF, one nominated by the province, and another who has been agreed upon by both parties.

Intense weather on the way as heat warning issued for the southeast

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for the southeast, with temperatures expected to rise rapidly over the next two days.

Daytime high temperatures reaching 32 degrees Celsius and above, and overnight lows near 16 degrees Celsius are forecast over the next several days. Humidity will also be noticeable, with humidex values likely exceeding 38.

The slow-moving ridge of high pressure responsible for bringing the extreme heat into Saskatchewan is expected to reach a peak on Thursday, collapsing soon after.
