Moosomin welcomes PJHL expansion team, the Steelhawks

Moosomin is set to become the newest hub for junior hockey in southeast Saskatchewan, as the town prepares to welcome the Steelhawks, an expansion franchise in the Prairie Junior Hockey League (PJHL).

The team is the vision of Blake Martinek and his father, who approached the town about a year ago with the idea. Mike Schwean, Moosomin’s Director of Parks and Recreation and president of the Moosomin Rangers, said the community has long been interested in hosting a junior B team.

MRI project takes first step at St. Joseph’s Hospital with soil testing underway

The long-anticipated modular MRI project at St. Joseph’s Hospital has officially taken its first step, with geotechnical soil testing now underway.

Candace Kopec, the executive director at St. Joseph’s Hospital, said SDI Canada is leading the project, and ParklandGEO was on-site this week to conduct the testing.

Rural healthcare access expanded as Oxbow ultrasound centre opens doors

The Rural Municipality of Enniskillen is expanding health services for its residents and the broader region with the addition of radiology services, including ultrasound, through Guardian Radiology.

Pamela Barnett, chief administrative officer for the R.M. of Enniskillen, said the new service is a major benefit for the community.

“We are extremely excited not only for the R.M. of Enniskillen residents, but the whole southeast of Saskatchewan and southwest of Manitoba to be able to access the radiology services in a timely manner, and with local sonographers,” she said.

Southeast sees warmer, wetter April than usual thanks to surprise snowstorm
