Update: Highway north of Airdrie closed after multi-vehicle collision
After a short closure of the QEII, northbound, north of Airdrie, Mounties said that a multi-vehicle collision had been cleared and the roads were re-opened for traffic.
Earlier, police reported minor injuries in the multi-vehicle collision north of the city, northbound on the QEII, near Township Road 274.
On Monday evening, motorists reported that emergency crews were attending the scene of the collision and that there had been major delays in the area.
Update: Morning collision may snarl traffic in Airdrie
A three-vehicle collision that occurred earlier on Monday morning Southbound on the QEII, in the vicinity of the Yankee Valley off-ramp just before the 40th Avenue Interchange, has been cleared.
Motorists reported that there were severe traffic delays and congestion in the area.

Update: Vehicle rollover causing delays north of Airdrie
At approximately 11:30 a.m., Mounties said that a semi/trailer rollover that caused all three Southbound lanes to shut down north of Airdrie on the QEII had been cleared.
Previously, police were attending the incident and had encouraged motorists to find an alternate route.
There may still be traffic delays and congestion in the area.
UPDATE: Spun-out vehicle causing delays on the QEII
The spun-out vehicle that was on the QEII in Airdrie causing delays is now gone.
The vehicle was in the southbound lanes on the QEII near Yankee Valley Boulevard.
Crews are no longer on the scene.
The QEII has been reported to have icy patches and be snow-covered. It is recommended to postpone travel if possible.
There have been reports of vehicles stuck in the ditch along the QEII between Olds and Airdrie.
Snow causing poor driving conditions
With the snow from yesterday and today piling up, Alberta RCMP is advising to drive with caution on the QEII from Olds to Airdrie.
The QEII has been reported to have icy patches and be snow-covered. It is recommended to postpone travel if possible.
There have been reports of vehicles stuck in the ditch along the QEII between Olds and Airdrie.
The snow is supposed to last until this evening.
Plenty of snow expected today for Airdrie
Environment and Climate Change Canada has placed a snowfall warning for Airdrie and its surrounding area.
The snowfall warning is in effect for:
- Airdrie
- Crossfield
- Bottrel
- Madden
- Cochrane
Heavy snow has developed this morning and will continue through the day before tapering off this evening.
Total snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 centimetres are expected.
Update: Airdrie roads become slippery as snowfall warning continues
Highways both Southbound and Northbound of Airdrie are becoming slick as snow continues to fall on Thursday morning.
The QEII Southbound towards Calgary is partly covered in snow and there may be shoulder ice, along with icy wheel paths and slushy sections, while heading Northbound towards Crossfield and Carstairs, there are reports of freezing rain mixed with snow. However, those travelling East of Airdrie towards Beiseker on Highway 72 can expect the highway to be covered in snow with shoulder ice and slippery sections as well.
Driving conditions may change drastically
Road conditions in Airdrie and the surrounding areas may change drastically with the rapidly changing forecast that is predicted by Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC).
Delivery van bursts into flames north of Airdrie
Mounties confirmed that a vehicle fire that occurred north of Airdrie on Friday afternoon was that of an Amazon delivery van.
Update: Reports of vehicle fire north of Airdrie
A vehicle fire that occurred north of Airdrie near Crossfield has been cleared.
Previously, it was reported that there were lane closures and speed reductions in the Northbound lanes of the QEII at Highway 72. Emergency crews were reported to be on the scene.
There may be residual traffic congestion in the area. No details of injuries were available.
