While the summer heat is usually the main point of grumbling from residents here in the southeast, it is the skies that are grumbling throughout the day today, with a storm expected to bring five to 10 mm of rain, continuing overnight tonight.
Midale Bull Bash Packs the Stands for a 17th Year
Midale once again proved it knows how to put on a show as the D&P Moon Operating Bull Bash & Cabaret returned August 1st for its 17th annual run. Hosted by the Midale Rodeo Association and produced by Crossfire Bull riding, the night brought fierce bull riding, high-octane energy, and a sold-out crowd ready for Saskatchewan-style entertainment.
Community spirit shines at Heritage Village weekend in Midale
The sights, sounds, and spirit of prairie life from decades past were on full display over the weekend at the annual Threshing Days in Midale, hosted by the Souris Valley Antique Association and Midale Museum.
The weekend kicked off with a popular pancake breakfast on Main Street, where visitors gathered before hopping on the “people mover” shuttle to the Heritage Village grounds. From there, the day unfolded with a packed schedule of hands-on demonstrations, heritage tours, and family activities.

Nickle Lake Regional Park is getting ready for their annual Halloween in the Park on August 16th, with prizes for best-decorated campsites and costumes.
"Anybody who wants to help sponsor some candy or some prizes for the site decorating contest and stuff like that," invited Park Manager Darren Wheeler.

Fun, regatas, cross-training: Weyburn Rowing Club encourages participation
The Weyburn Rowing Club held a Learn to Row on Friday and a Beach Sprints competition on the weekend at Nickle Lake Regional Park.
Club Founder and President Sheila Leach said the purpose was to show that rowing can be fun for everyone.
She said the sport in Weyburn has been slowly growing.
"It's not a sport that most people know. So it's a lot harder to draw some people in. That's kind of why we set up the whole Friday, Saturday thing so they can come out and see the sport."
Road closure on Third Street: City of Weyburn
Due to rail crossing upgrades being conducted by CPKC, Third Street will be closed to traffic between Railway Avenue and Highway 39 from today, August 5th until Thursday, August 7th.
Drivers should plan to use an alternate route, use caution in the area, and obey all posted signage. Detours will be in place.
The City of Weyburn stated that access to local businesses in the area will be maintained, and they will share updates as they become available.
New funding to help create 200 regional park campsites in Saskatchewan
The provincial government recently announced a $1 million investment accessible to Saskatchewan’s Regional Parks for the creation of new seasonal campsites.

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers said Friday that the roughly 55,000 members represented by the union shot down the Canada Post's latest proposal, which would've seen wage hikes of about 13 per cent over four years and restructuring to add part-time workers to the deal.
