Big game hunters in the province can get excited about the upcoming season. Beginning May 1, Saskatchewan hunters have the opportunity to apply for the 2025 Big Game Draw to secure limited opportunities to hunt mule deer, elk, moose and pronghorn across the province.  

"The Big Game Draw is your opportunity to experience Saskatchewan's world-class hunting firsthand," Environment Minister Travis Keisig said. "We want every hunter to have a fair chance at success and that starts with applying early and being prepared." 

Intersections are where cars, trucks, buses, taxis, cyclists, motorcyclists and pedestrians all meet, creating a dynamic mix of traffic.

Several weeks ago, Green Shirt Day unveiled the 2025 logo for its fundraising attire, and it was an artist who grew up in Humboldt, Geoffrey Kehrig, whose design was selected.  

The Humboldt Office of the Ministry of Agriculture is teaming up with the Nokomis Agricultural Society for a daylong event entitled Focus on Farming: Empowering Women for Change. The information session is being held on Friday, February 14 at the Humboldt Legion Hall from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm.  

The day will see two well-known presenters share knowledge and insight into having a positive mindset and employing strong communication skills for success. 

Monday’s throne speech started an abbreviated session of the Legislature in Regina. As teachers continue to wait for the outcome of an arbitration report on their contract and key issues facing classrooms, the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation issued a statement saying they were encouraged by what they heard from the re-elected Moe government. 

Another credit union merger is on the horizon in the province, this one taking in a large geographical region that spans the province, with a significant number of members.  

A joint news release from Conexus, Cornerstone and Synergy Credit Unions outlines that the institutions are exploring a potential merger. The release indicates the intent is to create a stronger, more resilient province-wide credit union that evolves with the changing needs of its members and communities.

It’s not every day Olympic hopefuls visit small-town Saskatchewan, but for the past 13 years, Corr Grain’s Community Rocks program has been doing just that. Led by mixed doubles curling stars Laura Walker and local hero Kirk Muyres, the initiative introduces children to curling in a fun and educational environment, building excitement for the sport.

“We’ve been doing this for 13 years, visiting communities throughout Saskatchewan, just getting kids excited about the game, get them coming out to the clubs going ‘that was really fun – I want to go back to the curling rink.’” 

The weekends immediately prior to Remembrance Day are invariably busy ones in high school athletics. This year, November 8-9 will see a range of Saskatchewan High School Athletic Association events.   

The Humboldt Broncos Memorial Committee, and the City of Humboldt as fund holders for the Committee, are steadily moving forward with plans for the memorial site on Highway 35.  

At its regular meeting on Monday night, City Council heard how challenges with key agencies, including the Ministry of Highways, CN Rail and SaskPower, have led to delays in starting work on the Memorial Site.
