Red Wings make deal with Nipawin

The Weyburn Red Wings announced a trade with the Nipawin Hawks yesterday.

Coming to Weyburn is 04-born forward Carter Wickenheiser. Originally from Regina, Wickenheiser played in 56 games last season, his first in the SJHL. Over those games, he put up 12 points, including four goals.

Also coming to Weyburn in the trade is a 2nd round pick in next year's 08-born draft.

In exchange, the Hawks are receiving the 5th overall pick in this year's 06-born draft, as well as a 2nd round pick in the 2024 08-born draft.

"Wouldn't be possible at all": Volunteers key to Red Wings success

For many organizations in Weyburn, volunteers are crucial to their day-to-day operations. This includes many sports organizations, such as the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings.

Nick Nielsen is the office and public relations manager with the hockey team. While he has only been in the position for a few weeks, he has already seen how the volunteers play an important role.

Forward commits to Red Wings for next season

The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings have added another player. The team announced a commitment from 04-born Jack Pass Saturday.

“Jack came into spring camp as an unsigned walk-on and showed his high level of skill, grit and passion for the game,” head coach and general manager Cody Mapes said in a statement on social media announcing the signing.

Red Wings wrap up spring camp

The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings held their spring camp this past weekend. Players from across the province, and a few from outside of the province as well, took part in the event.

The players were split across six teams, two of which were for younger players. They took part in a number of events, including seminars on training and mental health, as well as scrimmages through the weekend.
