Morinville RCMP looking for suspect in fraud investigation

Morinville RCMP is asking for the public's help in identifying a man involved in a fraud investigation.

The unidentified man entered a Gibbons convenience store on Oct. 20 and purchased several items using stolen bank cards.

The suspect is described as:

  • Male
  • Blonde dyed hair
  • Moustache
  • Black eye
  • Wearing a Seattle Kraken hoodie

He was also seen driving an older-style silver GMC or Chevrolet truck.

Semi-truck involved in collision near Sherwood Park

A semi-truck collided with a vehicle near Sherwood Park on Wednesday (Nov. 2) morning.  

RCMP responded to a call at about 7 a.m. to reports of a semi-truck rear-ending a vehicle into the ditch. 

The incident occurred on the Anthony Henday near Baseline Road and Wye Road. 

Police say that no injuries were reported as a result of the collision. 

Alberta wheat and barley farmers vote in favour of amalgamation

The Alberta Barley Commission and the Alberta Wheat Commission releasing the preliminary results today.

Two plebiscites were held one for each commodity where a majority of eligible producers voted in favour of amalgamating the two commissions.

Alberta Barley Chair, Tara Sawyer says a clear direction was provided by both wheat and barley farmers on the preferred path forward for the organizations.
 
The preliminary results from each plebiscite was 89 per cent of barley farmers and 88 per cent of wheat farmers in support of forming one commission.

Update: Semi-truck collides with vehicle on Anthony Henday

A semi-truck was involved in a collision on the Anthony Henday on Wednesday (Nov. 2) morning. 

Police say emergency services responded to reports of the truck rear-ending another vehicle into the ditch near Baseline Road and Wye Road at about 7 a.m.  

According to RCMP, no injuries were reported. 

There were delays in the area, but it has now been cleared. 

Environment Canada forecasting 'snowy' few days

With snow and colder temperatures finally hitting the community this week, now is a great time to start getting prepared for the winter.

Environment Canada expects the winter weather to ramp up as early as tonight (Nov. 1). 

"We do have some more winter weather headed our way, snow should start this evening and start to intensify overnight," says Jesse Wagar, a meteorologist with Environment Canada. "Unfortunately, it looks like that's going to stick around during the morning commute tomorrow (Nov. 2)." 

"The next 24 to 36 hours look to be quite snowy for us."
