Dueck has big dreams for his town; Asks for your vote in fall
The October 26 Municipal Election ballot for the town of Niverville Councilors is filling up. Now officially a race for votes with one more current councillor hoping for re-election.
Nathan Dueck and his family have lived in Niverville for 19 years. He has been involved in many organizations including, at the board level for the Hiebert Heritage Cemetery, south of Niverville, as well as the President of Niverville Health Services for the past four years.
Long-time Niverville business owner is going for re-election
A lifetime resident of the Niverville area would like to try for another term on town council.
Chris Wiebe is completing 2nd full term and says there is still more work he can accomplish as a member of the Niverville town council.
Dawydiuk chasing Grunthal seat in Hanover election
The first election candidate has stepped forward in Ward Six, or the Grunthal area, of the Rural Municipality of Hanover. Current Councillor Jim Funk has already announced he is running for the position of reeve, leaving that councillor seat up for grabs.
Esau eyes second term
The Hanover Councillor for the Mitchell area says he has really enjoyed his first term on council and Brian Esau is ready for more. Esau has announced his intentions to run for the Ward Two seat.
The Mitchell resident was elected to Hanover Council back in May of 2020. A by-election was called that spring after the passing of longtime Councillor Bernie Stahn.
Poirier enters mayoral race in Tache
There will be a race for mayor in the Rural Municipality of Tache. That is because, after eight years as councillor, Armand Poirier has decided to challenge incumbent Mayor Justin Bohemier.
"I think there's a lot of things in Tache that I would like to see accomplished," says Poirier, when asked why he is running for Mayor. "If elected as mayor I will be able to probably see some of these things come to fruition."
If elected, Poirier says one of his priorities will be to see safety improvements made at the Provincial Road 206 and Trans Canada Highway intersection.
Brandt wrapping up final term on Hanover Council
The Hanover Councillor for the Blumenort area has announced he will not seek re-election this fall. Ward Three Councillor Bob Brandt says after 16 years this will be his last term.
"Age is kind of catching up to me," suggests Brandt. "There are younger (people) that need a chance to get at the job and I'm hoping for a really good strong candidate stepping forward."
Brandt refers to his time on council as a very enjoyable experience, noting a lot has changed from when he first joined.
New-to-Niverville resident adds his name to the ballot
After living in Niverville for only 18 months, a former-Alberta resident says he likes the town so much, that he’s ready to add his name to the ballot for Town Council in the fall municipal elections.
After 34 years on the job, long serving councilor not done yet
The longest-serving Niverville Town councillor is throwing his well-worn hat in the ring, again.
John Funk has been on council for 34 years. While he's been Deputy Mayor, Interim-Mayor and even Acting Mayor for a bit, these days, Funk is simply asking for your vote on October 26 as he’d like to extend his stay on Niverville Town Council.
Hanover councillor campaigning for four more years
Four years is not enough for the Hanover councillor who was once told he would never get anything accomplished.
Ward Four Councillor John Giesbrecht, who refers to himself as "a bit of a fighter", has announced his intentions to run for re-election.
Hanover's Ward Four consists of communities such as Pansy, Sarto and Friedensfeld. Giesbrecht, who was first elected in the 2018 election, clearly remembers what one ratepayer told him while campaigning that year.
Steinbach City Councillor Jake Hiebert announces re-election bid
With a focus on public safety and fiscal responsibility, Steinbach City Councillor Jake Hiebert is running for re-election.
Hiebert says these past four years have flown by and notes working with council has been very rewarding.
“Everyone is doing a great job ensuring the city is operating efficiently, effectively, and as much as possible, that we are good stewards of the tax-payer's money.”
