Fires are now restricted in Foothills County

Hot weather conditions have prompted another Alberta county to impose restrictions on fires.

On Tuesday the County announced that they have moved to a Fire Restriction, which limits where fires are allowed in the area.

If any open fires require a permit and are currently burning, they must be extinguished fully, and all open burning permits are suspended.

On top of the suspended fire permits, the County is not allowing fireworks, torches, and lanterns with an open flame at this time.

Wine not? B.C. wine back on Alberta tables

It appears the wine war has come to an end.

Alberta and B.C. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will allow Albertans to get their hands on wine straight out of B.C. The same is true for B.C. residents in acquiring wine from Alberta.

It's a move that the provincial government has already touted as an economic driver, with Albertans now having access to a wider selection under the province's fully privatized liquor industry.

Construction in Granum will cause traffic disruptions for three weeks

The Hamlet of Granum will be doing some sidewalk and road construction for the next few weeks.

Starting this week, there will be crews doing sidewalk removal and replacement, as well as asphalt paving, and they are expecting the work to take roughly three weeks to complete.

The work is happening to replace end-of-life infrastructure, so they are asking those who are affected by the work to be patient while the work is being completed, and because this work can be an inconvenience, they will be doing their best to finish the work as promptly as possible.
