Tsuut’ina Nation chief Roy Albert Whitney has been charged with two cases of historical sexual assaults by the Edmonton Police Service (EPS).  

Two separate offences occurred in 1994 and 2005 involving two adult males.  

In 1994, it was reported that a 33-year-old male was sexually assaulted near 178 Street and 87 Avenue in Edmonton.  

Harvest operations are slowly starting to get underway. Crop condition and staging across the Prairies is variable depending on location and rainfall patterns.

In Manitoba, early reports of swathing in canola have come in from the Interlake and Central regions, along with some winter cereals.

The Town of Vulcan has reported the water issue has been fixed.

Some residents of the Town of Vulcan are currently without water.

The Town took to Facebook to let the public know that properties along 1 Street N and 2 Street N will experience temporary water outages today.

The water outage is due to the Town addressing a water issue on the north side of town and are currently conducting repairs.

Advance polls in a historic federal byelection for Alberta's Battle River-Crowfoot open today.

For the first time ever, Elections Canada says voters must fill out a blank ballot.

The agency lists a record 214 candidates running in the rural riding, with voting day on Aug. 18.

The majority are part of the Longest Ballot Committee, a protest group calling for various changes to Canada's electoral system.

The chuckwagons seem to be gaining momentum in Dawson Creek, B.C.

Day 2 of the Battle of the North saw a noticeable speed increase, with the top four times of the night beating the fastest time from Day 1.

Rangeland Derby and Battle of the Foothills champion Chanse Vigen took the top time of the night, jumping up 10 spots to reach number three in the aggregate standings. He's also taken the second spot in the world standings.

High River's Jason Glass finished fifth, dropping him to fourth in the aggregate.

The Okotoks Dawgs swept the WCBL Semi-Finals last night.

With a 9-2 win over the Brooks Bombers, the Dawgs are now one step closer to winning their fourth championship in a row.

The Dawgs were able to jump ahead early and maintain control for the rest of the game.

Thanks to timely hitting and a dominant pitching start, they were able to limit the Bombers' chances of scoring while maximizing their own.

Nash Crowell had a stellar performance last night, as he went 4-for-4, with two home runs and six RBIs.

Friday, August 8:

As part of Nature Fridays in Okotoks, this week, they will be teaching about wetlands at the Okotoks Environmental Education Centre from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. At this, youth will discover the amazing world of wetlands and how they are essential ecosystems.

The Walter Boys are back in High River today (Aug. 8).

The Town announced on Facebook that production crews from the Netflix series My Life with the Walter Boys will be filming at various locations around town throughout the day.

Occasional traffic disruptions are expected, with flaggers periodically directing traffic along 12th Avenue SW.

According to the Town, drivers shouldn't experience delays longer than five minutes.

Filming for the show's third season only recently began, with the ACTRA Alberta website listing Aug. 6 as the start date.

Drivers in High River can expect traffic disruptions as crews install fibre optic lines.  

From Aug. 8 until Aug. 12, Ledcor crews will be completing hydrovac work and directional drilling.  

The work will take place at the intersection of High Country Drive and 7 Street NW between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.   

The Guy Weadick Pro Rodeo is scheduled to happen this weekend.

Originally, the rodeo was scheduled to take place in June but was postponed due to heavy rainfall.

The weekend it was originally scheduled to happen saw upwards of 110 mm of rain in some areas of the Foothills.

At the Guy Weadick Pro Rodeo this weekend, there will be an opening ceremony before the fun begins.

There will be bareback bronc riding, ladies barrel racing, tie down roping, team roping, saddle bronc, steer wrestling, breakaway roping, bull riding, mutton busting, and wild pony races.
