Upgrades are coming to Claresholm Community Centre
The Claresholm Community Centre Main Hall will be getting some renovations soon.
On September 18th, the Town of Claresholm announced that the Claresholm Community Centre Main Hall Washroom and Entry will be renovated, beginning mid-January.
During the construction, the main hall and meeting room will be closed until April 13th, once the work has been completed.
The Lodge Room Hall, though, will still be available for bookings as normal.
Grain movement on CPKC lines has bounced back
CPKC's Assistant Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Bulk Elizabeth Hucker says the rail network has bounced back following last month's work stoppage but it will still take more time for supply chains to fully recover and car cycles to normalize.
She says since that work outage in grain shipping week 3 CPKC has seen a steady increase in demand for rail services to locations like Thunder Bay, Vancouver, Eastern Canada, the United States and Mexico.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says that at a time when the world faces increasing instability, leaders have a choice: bury their heads in the sand or put their differences aside for the sake of future generations.
"We can recognize that, collectively, we have a responsibility to set our differences aside, to confront the serious global challenges, and to deliver on a pact for the future," Trudeau said at the Summit of the Future in New York on Sunday.
6-year-old girl missing near Burns Lake, B.C., since Thursday found safe
A 6-year-old girl who had been missing from her community in north-central British Columbia since Thursday has been found safe.
Resources from across the province were enlisted in the search to find the child who lives in a small community not far from Burns Lake.
The girl, who is on the autism spectrum and non-verbal, was found on Sunday night around 6 p.m.
A video posted to Facebook show a woman appearing to embrace the child, who was covered in several layers of clothing and blankets
Okotoks education workers host rally for CUPE Education Day of Action
On Saturday (Sept. 21), education workers represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) held an Education Day of Action in several Alberta municipalities.
Rallies were held in Okotoks, Calgary, Edmonton, Fort McMurray, Drumheller, Leduc, and Red Deer.
The Okotoks rally was held on Southridge Drive, near the Foothills Composite High School.
President of CUPE Local 5040, Lesley Cole, says negotiations are about to resume just weeks after a deal was reached with the Foothills School Division.

The Christmas Charity Truck was overflowing with donations on Thursday (Sept. 19) at a Show and Shine event at The Stash Luxury Garages.
It was organized by Larry and Leslie Stadnick, who developed the garages located north of Okotoks and launched the Christmas Charity Truck in 2023.
The truck appeared at numerous events last year, collecting around 750 toy donations.
Filming continues in High River this week
The Town of High River will be the setting of a television show, yet again.
My Life with the Walter Boys is returning to High River this week as filming continues for the show's second season.
Filming will occur from Monday to Thursday (Sept. 23-26) and crews will be in various locations around town, so the Town is asking people to be ready for some minor traffic disruptions.
They will primarily be in the downtown area, though some filming will take place in residential parts of town.
Town Hall and the Bob Snodgrass Rec Plex are closing on Wednesday
Town facilities in High River will be temporarily closed on Wednesday (Sept. 25).
It's to allow town staff time for more training along with a general meeting and Indigenous awareness activities.
This means High River's Town Hall and Reception along with the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex will be closed.
Piikani Nation Secondary School teacher's cartoon is getting a world premiere
A cartoon in Blackfoot is getting a world premiere.
Celestine Twigg is a teacher from Fort Macleod who teaches the Blackfoot language at the Piikani Nation Secondary School, and she's hoping to teach people the Blackfoot language through cartoons, similar to Sesame Street.
She recently created and released a cartoon called POOS, which means cat in Blackfoot, and it does just that.
POOS is a personal story that shows the daily life of Twigg's cat Thumper.
It's narrated by Twigg's late son Troy Emery Twigg in the Blackfoot language.
