Former Terrier excited to bring championship DNA to Kansas City
Ty Enns has signed his first professional contract, a one-year deal in the ECHL with the Kansas City Mavericks.
Enns wrapped up his collegiate career this past season at Adrian College, where he put up 48 points in 30 games. He was in contact with different ECHL teams since January but he didn't make his decision until last month.
Former Terrier signs in ECHL
After four years of college hockey, Ty Enns is going pro. The former Portage Terriers' forward is joining the ECHL's Kansas City Mavericks for the 2023-24 campaign.
Enns spent his last four seasons in the NCAA Division 3 and was a part of the national championship-winning team this season.

Reynolds bringing his "200-foot game" to Portage
The Portage Terriers have already brought in three new players via trade this offseason.
Alyandro De Leon will be returning to the squad after being reacquired from the SJHL's Nipawin Hawks. Gavin Renwick and Kalen Reynolds were both picked up in a previous trade with the Neepawa Titans.
Reynolds says he's excited to reunite with Terriers' assistant coach Robby Moar.
Terriers to take on Virden and Neepawa in preseason
The Manitoba Junior Hockey League has unveiled their 2023 preseason schedule. Each team will play four exhibition games ahead of the regular season, with bouts going down from September 3-18.
While there will be over two weeks of action across the league, the Terriers will play all their games in just a seven-day span.
Portage will open the preseason at home on Tuesday, September 12, against the Virden Oil Capitals. The Terriers will return to the Dog Pound two nights later, on September 14, as they host the Neepawa Titans.
De Leon excited to be a Terrier once again
Alyandro De Leon was a member of the Portage Terriers for six games last season and was extremely productive in the green and white. De Leon put up seven points in his six games with Portage before he was traded to the SJHL's Nipawin Hawks.
De Leon and the Terriers will be reuniting next season after Portage acquired him via trade last week.
Renwick ready to make an impact in Portage
The Portage Terriers have been active in the trade department in the early portion of the offseason. The Dogs have made two separate trades already.
The first brought back forward Alyandro De Leon from the SJHL for future considerations. The second trade saw forward Kalen Reynolds and goaltender Gavin Renwick acquired from the Neepawa TItans for a fifth-round pick.
Renwick spent the last two seasons with the Neepawa Titans but he's looking forward to a change of scenery.
Terriers add two veterans from Titans
The Portage Terriers are making their first trade of the offseason. The Dogs acquired 2004-born forward Kalen Reynolds and 2005-born goaltender Gavin Renwick from the Neepawa Titans for a fifth-round draft pick and future considerations.
Reynolds is a Winnipegger who played 56 games over the last two seasons with the Titans. He scored four goals and dished out seven assists in Neepawa last season. The 19-year-old has two more seasons of Junior A Hockey eligibility.
Former Terrier stepping into the crease at University of Providence
Stonewall product Chris Fines is furthering his hockey career next season in the state of Montana. The former Portage Terrier will play for the University of Providence in the American Collegiate Hockey Association Division 2 for the 2023-24 campaign.
Fines helped guide the Niverville Nighthawks to their first playoff appearance in his final season in the MJHL. The 21-year-old finished the regular season with a 15-17 record and a 0.901 save percentage.
Calder "Couldn't be more proud to be from Portage"
With another Junior A hockey season in the books, the Portage Terriers are bidding adieu to their eight 20-year-old players.
One of the hardest for many Terrier fans to say goodbye to is the team captain and Portage-born defenceman Kian Calder. He was disheartened after the Terriers' playoff loss in Game 7 against the Virden Oil Capitals, but Calder is very proud of the way the squad responded at the Centennial Cup.
99 days until Terrier hockey returns to Portage
The Portage Terriers are still feeling good about their Centennial Cup run last month, but that will soon be a distant memory as the 2023-24 regular season is approaching fast.
