Rocky View Schools focusing on positive bus behaviours

Rocky View Schools (RVS) is reminding all students this autumn that everyone has a better time when they behave in a courteous, responsible, and safe manner on the school bus.

“School buses are an extension of the school and the classroom,” said Superintendent of Schools, Greg Luterbach. “Every day, RVS transports more than 13,000 students to and from school, and many additional students will use the bus during the school year to travel on field trips. Establishing clear expectations and providing positive reinforcement ensures our students get where they are going safely.”

Rocky View County reappoints Reeve Crystal Kissel for third term

Rocky View County Council kicked off its annual organizational meeting with a decisive step toward shaping local governance, reappointing Crystal Kissel as Reeve for her third consecutive term and Don Kochan as Deputy Reeve for his second."

Under Rocky View County’s system, the Reeve and Deputy Reeve are chosen by council members for one-year terms. The Reeve leads council meetings and serves as the head of the council.

Airdrie court closure extended

Airdrie’s courthouse closure has been extended indefinitely, meaning all court proceedings are now relocated to the Calgary Courts Centre.

Annual inflation falls to 1.6% in September, raises odds of 50-basis-point rate cut

The chances of a half-percentage point interest rate cut by the Bank of Canada became more likely Tuesday after Statistics Canada reported annual inflation fell to 1.6 per cent in September.

Economist Tu Nguyen of accounting and consultancy firm RSM Canada said she had expected the inflation rate to remain close to the central bank's two per cent target, where it was in August, for a few more months.

"This is one of the instances where I'm happy to be wrong," she said.

More details on health agency to oversee primary care services

The province has announced it is set to launch Primary Care Alberta, a new provincial health agency dedicated to overseeing and coordinating primary health care services. The agency will become operational later this fall.

The agency's primary goal is to support integrated teams of family physicians, nurse practitioners, and pharmacists, ensuring comprehensive care for Albertans at every stage of life.

No stone left alone: Honoring fallen veterans in Rocky View County

Rocky View County will host the annual No Stone Left Alone ceremony at the Garden of Peace Cemetery on November 6 at 11 a.m.

According to the county, the event is meant to honour those who fought for our freedom, symbolizing that none of them are alone or forgotten.

No Stone Left Alone is an annual ceremony held before Remembrance Day, launched by the No Stone Left Alone Memorial Foundation.
