Learn more about Manitoba's strong art community and history with one of its oldest art societies dedicated to keeping the spirit of creativity alive.

The Manitoba Society of Artists (MSA), created in 1902, began with prominent members of the art community to promote the appreciation of art and artists in the province and provide opportunities for them to exhibit their art to the community.

This weekend in Winnipeg, audiences will have the exceedingly rare opportunity to hear the Turkish kanun played by Didem Başar. 

Virtuosi Concerts’ Continuum explores the convergence of music from the Near East with the Western Classical tradition in a multifaceted program which begins by welcoming back Virtuosi Young Artist Alice MacGregor.  

“I’m super excited to return again,” says MacGregor ahead of the performance Sunday.  

Mentoring Artists for Women's Art (MAWA) is hosting its 19th annual Over the Top Art Auction and Cupcake Party fundraiser to continue supporting people in the community.

Founded in 1984, MAWA is a visual arts education centre that provides services to women and gender minority artists in working towards gender inequality in society and the visual arts community. They provide a wide range of programs such as mentorships, workshops and discussion groups.

This Sunday, March 26th at 7:30pm at the Winnipeg Art Gallery, the Winnipeg Chamber Music Society (WCMS) will be presenting their fourth concert of the 2022-2023 Season.

This concert will feature Miklós Rózsa’s Sonata for two violins, Dvorak’s Op.87 Piano Quartet and Brahms’s passionate and lyrical 2nd Cello Sonata in F.

Winnipeg’s premier daytime concert and lecture series, Music N Mavens, comes to a close this Thursday after 9 wonderful weeks of music-making and presentations at the Rady JCC.  

Though it might not feel like it in Winnipeg, spring is just round the corner with the sun poised to cross the celestial equator and return to the northern hemisphere at 4:24 p.m. on Monday, March 20.  

Just two days later, the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra celebrates all things budding and new in Equinox – a concert featuring 7 composers (and no less than 4 world premieres!) – at WAG Qaumajuq. 

The Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra revealed their upcoming season over the weekend.

This weekend, virtuoso pianist Alexei Volodin makes his return to Winnipeg for back-to-back nights of Rachmaninoff with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and a solo afternoon recital, presented by the Women's Musical Club of Winnipeg.  

This Sunday, March 13th at 3:00pm at the Lutheran Church of the Cross the Mennonite Community Orchestra will be performing a concert that they are calling “The Power of Conversation.”

Featuring the music of Liszt, Schumann, and a Winnipeg premiere of a terrific Symphony by the Danish composer Niels Gade, this concert will feature pianist Anna Schwartz in a performance of the first movement to Schumann’s A Minor piano concerto.

Music N’ Mavens, featuring marvelous daytime performances and engaging lectures, continues at the Rady JCC with a performance that keeps it in the family.
