Southern Manitoba theatre fans will be treated to a Canadian premiere of a production that has already received rave reviews on Broadway and in London’s West End. 

Mr. & Mrs. Nobody is the second-ever production produced by Steinbach’s Looking Glass Theatre, which began its inaugural season back in the fall. The comedy centers on the exploits of Charles and Carrie Pooter, a Victorian-era couple hopelessly consumed in the vanities of life. 

This Saturday, Feb. 15, at 7:30 p.m. at the Desautels Concert Hall, the Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra (WJO) presents a special Valentine’s-themed concert, Cherry Blossom Dreams. The evening will feature timeless songs by George Gershwin, Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder and more, making it the perfect date night outing.

Joining the WJO is acclaimed Filipino jazz singer Charito.

This Friday and Saturday Night at 7:30 , Our Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra will be putting on a concert that pays tribute to a true cultural icon,the great Aretha Franklin. 

Readers of all ages will have plenty of activities to pursue across Winnipeg this weekend. 

Plume Winnipeg, organizers of the Thin Air Writer’s Festival, have created a festival directed entirely at kids from February 14 through 16 in libraries and bookstores all over the city. This year’s activities are the first of their kind that the festival has planned with an eye towards building an annual celebration of local children’s literacy. 

This Sunday, February 16th, Filipino-Canadian jazz singer Jovelle Balani will take the stage at The Fort Garry Hotel, showcasing her stunning contralto voice and captivating Winnipeg’s jazz lovers with a blend of classic tunes and original material.
