The Royal MTC has announced their 2025/26 season which will include 10 productions this year.

From world premieres from Canadian playwrights to internationally acclaimed plays making their debut in Manitoba, Artistic Director Kelly Thornton says there is something for everyone.

A poem without words might seem like something of an oxymoron, but to the artists of the University of Manitoba Symphony Orchestra, it makes all the sense in the world when it comes to their music.  

The orchestra’s first concert of the year is entitled Poèmes sans paroles (Poems Without Words), and it features two students of the Desautels Faculty of Music speaking prominently into the concept in their own unique ways.

The 67th Grammy Awards were handed out last night at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Classical music fans in Winnipeg will have the chance to learn about a seminal 20th century composer at the start of Black History Month. McNally Robinson’s Community Classroom is set to host two lectures about the life and music of Samuel Coleridge-Taylor. 

“2025 is the 150th anniversary of Coleridge-Taylor’s birth, so this is the time to celebrate his achievements,” explains lecturer Larry Strachan, the leader of the Chamber Orchestra Without Borders.

The Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra is recruiting members of the public to sit among its ranks this week – and that’s everything that audience members have to do! 

When it comes to moments of upheaval in our lives, the best we can hope for is to survive the moment and process it later. For Cory Wojcik, that processing looked a little bit different than for most people: creating a theatre piece. 

“This is what we do as artists: to process things, we make art,” Wojcik explained in a conversation on Morning Light.  

“We want to hear your stories, your poems, whatever you have to tell us.”
