It’s been raining cats and dogs — mostly dogs — in this month’s Perfect Pet Contest!

May brought a steady stretch of gloomy, rainy weather, but that didn’t stop people across southeast Saskatchewan from sharing the sunshine their pets bring into their lives. From cuddles on stormy days to muddy-pawed adventures between showers, we had some wonderful entries this month — and yes, it was mostly dogs stealing the spotlight!

One of these adorable contestants will be taking home two $50 gift cards — one from All Creatures and one from Rodeo Dawg — along with the all-important title of May’s Perfect Pet!

Meals On The Farm delivery five: Bruce Farms

The crew at 104.5 More Country headed out to Bruce Farms to give them lunch from Baldwin BBQ.

The farm is located Southeast of Strathmore.

Jake Warrack is a farmer with Bruce Farms, and he explained what they seeded this year.

"We actually tried a couple of different things this year. We planted some Durham, which is new to us, and triticale, which is new to us, and then just our standard crops, we've grown lots of wheat, barley, and canola, and then we have a little bit of alfalfa in our rotation as well."

Pop culture fans flock to Morden for free weekend of gaming, collectibles, and cosplay

The Access Event Centre in Morden was buzzing this past weekend as fans of video games, vintage collectibles, Pokémon cards, comic books, cosplay, and more gathered for the latest edition of the Morden Pop Culture Expo. Organized by local enthusiast Trent Medynski, the two-day event offered free admission and something for everyone.

“We’ve got people coming in the door already. There was a line-up this morning,” said Medynski on Saturday. “Everybody’s ready to go. We’ve got the cotton candy ready. The icecycle treats are ready. The food trucks are ready. Let’s go!”

Do you get "Sunday Syndrome" or "Sunday Blues"? Many suffer from anxiety and stress as the reality of getting back to work on Monday sets in.

Surveys and polls over the years have found we just don't like Mondays.

The average person moans and groans for over half-an-hour on Monday mornings compared to about 20 minutes on other days. One survey, years ago, found the majority of people don't even smile until after 11:00am on Mondays.

Art of Keely Wildman featured on limited edition Lions Rodeo poster

The artwork of Keely Wildman is featured on the limited edition poster for the 59th Cochrane Lions Labour Day Weekend Rodeo.

A celebration was held on May 25 to unveil the winning entry and to recognize all six high school artists who submitted entries in the first-ever poster contest for the rodeo.

"I'm just really happy that I got this opportunity," said Keely, a student from St. Timothy High School. “After seeing all these posters, I was just shocked that mine won because they’re all so good.”
