City contiues to wrestle with airport ownership
The City of Humboldt did an about face at its Executive Meeting on Monday in regard to off-loading the Humboldt airport, referred to as the aerodrome, to private ownership.
A report prepared by Public Works Director Peter Bergquist and presented to council recommended that the City’s administration “re-engage selected surrounding municipalities that are believed to benefit the most from the airport discussions regarding ownership model options.”

Saskatchewan firefighter groups concerned over building burn legislation
Saskatchewan's legislature has passed a bill that opens the door for local governments to order firefighters to burn down derelict buildings, a move firefighters say they oppose.
Bill 21, the Construction Codes (Derelict Buildings) Amendment Act, received royal assent Tuesday. The legislation lays out the framework for a pilot project where volunteer firefighters conduct burns on municipal-owned buildings as part of training exercises.
18UAAA Red Sox go down swinging against the Diamondbacks
The Saskatoon Diamondbacks got the better of the East Central 18UAAA Red Sox last night as they fell 11-8.
After an error gave the Red Sox the lead in the opening inning, the Diamondbacks roared back with 5 runs on four hits in the bottom of the second. Dylan Pura led the D-Backs in the rally with a single to bring in a pair.
The Red Sox didn't flinch regaining the lead with six runs on 4 hits to make it 7-5, two of those coming on a Jarret Rude single.
Minor Basketball in Humboldt showcased at weekend tournament
A successful Humboldt Minor Basketball Association tournament entertained 21 different teams from across the province over Saturday and Sunday last weekend at Humboldt schools.
Kerri Archibald with the Association gives us the highlights.
“We had the girls playing on Saturday and the boys playing on Sunday. There were lots of fans out to see all the improvement that's happened over the season.”

Canadian youth struggle with making friends and bullying: UNICEF report
A global study from UNICEF suggests many Canadian kids are unhappy, with social struggles such as bullying and difficulty making friends among the sources of their anguish.
UNICEF’s 19th Report Card suggests one in five youth in Canada face frequent bullying, one in five are lonely and one in four struggle to make friends.
It blames bullying in particular for a drop in life satisfaction reported by 15-year-olds, down three percentage points to 76 per cent since 2018.

Prime Minister Mark Carney shook up his cabinet Tuesday by moving some key players involved in Canada-U.S. relations into new positions and promoting 24 new faces in a move meant to signal change at the top.
