Fire shuts down portion of Main St. and Disraeli Fwy. Wednesday morning

Traffic is snarled in the downtown Wednesday morning as emergency crews respond to a multi-alarm fire

The City of Winnipeg says the fire broke out shortly after 5 a.m. in a combination commercial and residential building in the 600 block of Main Street.

Firefighters are currently using an aerial ladder to apply water to the fire. As a result of the large response, crews have closed down some major roads in the area during the morning rush hour.

The Color & Jordan Janzen to tour with the Newsboys!

Made in Manitoba artists the Color made a very exciting announcement last night.

The band took to their social media pages to make the announcement, saying, "This is a pinch-me moment, but it is indeed true." 

The announcement? Jordan Janzen and the Color will join the Newsboys on part of their U.S. tour in 2024!

The southern Manitoba boys will join the legendary Newsboys for five dates as the Newsboys kick off their Worldwide Revival Nights tour.

Large police presence on St. Anne's Rd. may affect rush hour traffic Friday morning

The Winnipeg Police Service and several emergency vehicles are blocking traffic lanes on St. Anne's Road Friday morning.

A fire truck and ambulance can be seen on St. Anne's Road near Fernwood, and several police vehicles are on the road and in the parking lot of an apartment building.

Portion of Disraeli closed Monday morning as firefighters battle blaze

Commuters into the downtown may have their hands full Monday morning as emergency crews battle a fire in a vacant building.

Crews were called to the 00-100 block of the Disraeli Freeway around 4:40 a.m. Monday. 

As of 5 a.m. thick smoke could be seen pouring from the some as firefighters work to bring the fire under control.

Northbound traffic is closed at Lily as crews work in the area. The median lane of southbound Disraeli is also closed, and Lily is closed in the area.

Northbound traffic is being rerouted onto Logan. 

Police close busy intersection on Monday morning commute

Motorists are being asked to avoid the area of Notre Dame Ave. and Keewatin St. Monday morning as police investigate an incident.

Several police cars have parts of the intersection taped off as heavy rain falls in the area. Southbound Keewatin is entirely closed at the intersection, but northbound traffic does remain open. Eastbound Notre Dame is blocked at Bannatyne Ave. W and is being rerouted.

It's not clear at this time what happened at the intersection. No damaged vehicles can be seen in the area but a reflective vest can be seen under a police cone.

Several people taken to hospital after high rise blaze

Several people are without a home this evening and others are recovering from injuries after an early morning fire in a St. Boniface high rise.

Crews were called to the 100 block of Marion St. around 6:40 a.m. for a fire alarm. When firefighters arrived they encountered thick smoke and called in a second alarm for more units. Nearly two dozen emergency vehicles were on scene at one point.

Teen dies after serious collision, driver in hospital

A 17-year-old boy is dead following a collision on St. Mary's Rd. on Tuesday evening that resulted in the busy corridor being closed for several hours.

Two teenagers were rushed to hospital in critical condition following the single-vehicle collision. Emergency crews were called to the area of St. Mary's Rd. and Guay Ave. just before 9 p.m. on Tuesday.

Several units attended the scene. A severely damaged dark-coloured four-door vehicle can be seen on the northbound sidewalk against a hydro pole. Belongings from the car and police investigation markers litter the scene.
