Weekend traffic stop leads to five arrests
About a week ago, Portage la Prairie RCMP officers were conducting routine patrols when they noticed a vehicle with a malfunctioning headlight. The officers initiated a traffic stop around 11:30 p.m. However, the situation quickly escalated beyond a simple vehicle inspection.
Dogs drop Game 5 in Steinbach
The Steinbach Pistons staved off elimination with a 3-1 victory over the visiting Portage Terriers on March 29. The game saw Portage go 0/5 on the powerplay, but killing off all four penalties they were assessed.

The Portage Terriers came from behind Friday night to beat the Steinbach Pistons 4-3 in double overtime. The Dogs now have a 3-1 series lead with a chance to close things out on Saturday night in Steinbach.
The Pistons came out of the gate hungry in the first period and drew two power play opportunities but were unable to capitalize. They had seven shots on Terrier goalie Mitchell Kathler before Portage was able to register one. The game stayed 0-0 after 1.
