Don & Shirley Begg named to Order of Cochrane
A couple that has drawn international attention to Cochrane for over five decades has become the 15th recipient of the Order of Cochrane.
On Monday night, Don and Shirley Begg of Studio West Bronze Foundry were recognized by Cochrane town council with the highest honour bestowed by the town.
Tough competition in the show ring for the Western Dairy Expo and 1st Annual Legends of the Industry Awards handed out
The Western Dairy Expo wrapped up Saturday in Saskatoon.
This year's event featured 200 Holstein and about 60 Jersey cows and heifers and was judged by Paul Trapp a product acquisition specialist with Semex USA out of Wisconsin, and his associate judge Jon Larson.

All 235 students had the opportunity to vote in a climate similar to what electors will experience at polling stations across Cochrane, as part of the nationwide Student Vote program, which brings democracy to life in the classroom.

Cochrane man arrested in major drug bust, firearm seizure
A Cochrane man is facing multiple charges after a three-month drug trafficking investigation led to the seizure of a significant amount of fentanyl and several firearms, including a loaded handgun with a 3D-printed receiver.
Jacob Seal, 29, was arrested last week after Calgary Police, with support from their tactical unit, conducted a traffic stop in the Crescent Heights neighbourhood on Wednesday, April 16. Officers seized 22 grams of fentanyl, 18 grams of crack cocaine, and two cellphones from the vehicle.
